Agency for International Development - Egypt USAID Local Scholarship Program

Award: $69,000,000

Deadline: September 10, 2014

The goal of this program is to support development in Egypt by providing scholarships for future leaders and problem solvers to gain an understanding, experience and appreciation of development and democratic processes and values at U.S. institutions. Applicants will also explore the possibility of providing scholarship opportunities at quality public not for profit universities. Applicants are encouraged to promote gender balance and geographic diversity in the distribution of the scholarships. 

American Academy of Pediatrics - Planning and Implementation Grants
Award: Up to $10,000
Deadline: July 31, 2014
Funding is for individual pediatricians and fellowship trainees to plan innovative community-based child health initiatives that will ensure all children have medical homes and access to health care services not otherwise available in their community. Priority is given to projects that will be serving communities with the greatest health disparities.

Department of State - American Cultural Centers and Cultural Programming in the People's Republic of China

Award: $100,000

Deadline: August 11, 2014

This program supports the establishment of an American Cultural Center through an existing partnership with a Chinese institution or U.S. cultural-related programming at a space provided by a Chinese partner institution.

Award: Up to $120,000

This program seeks to enhance and establish humanities programs within community colleges, with a focus on exploration of the ways in which cultures from around the globe, as well as subcultures within America's borders, have influenced American society. With the aim of revitalizing intellectual and civic life through the humanities, NEH welcomes proposals that enhance understanding of diverse countries, peoples, and cultural and intellectual traditions worldwide.

The purpose of this program is to increase the diversity of the mental health research workforce by providing dissertation awards to individuals from diverse backgrounds underrepresented in mental health research to support the completion of the doctoral research project.

The goals of the ADVANCE program are (1) to develop systemic approaches to increase the representation and advancement of women in academic STEM careers; (2) to develop innovative and sustainable ways to promote gender equity in the STEM academic workforce; and (3) to contribute to the development of a more diverse science and engineering workforce. ADVANCE also has as its goal to contribute to and inform the general knowledge base on gender equity in the academic STEM disciplines.

This program seeks to support for knowledge generation research projects that seek to create and study new theory-driven models and innovations related to the participation and success of diverse groups in STEM undergraduate education.
Award: Up to $100,000

Supports individuals seeking innovative and unconventional approaches to fundamental open society challenges. Core areas of concern are human rights, government transparency, access to information, access to justice, the promotion of civil society and social inclusion.
Award: Up to $600,000

Supports advances in understanding programs, policies, and practices that reduce inequality or understanding the use of research evidence. Projects must have compelling relevance for programs, policies, and practices affecting youth ages 5-25 in the U.S.

The intent of this award is to enhance collaboration among a community of scholars working on issues of relevance to the special trilateral relationship among the United States, Mexico and Canada, created by shared borders and accelerated by the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Applicants may propose teaching projects, research projects or a combination of both in a wide range of subject areas relevant to Canada or Canada-U.S. relations.

Pre-arranged affiliations to host exceptional scholars who conduct research important to that university. You can guest lecture at university courses, mentor students, lecture in public venues, network, and promote your research, while representing the Fulbright program, and your home and host institutions.

This FOA is intended to stimulate innovative, multidisciplinary research on the cognitive, neuroplasticity, genetic and environmental factors involved in math learning and learning disabilities. This research will advance our knowledge of the factors that contribute to the development, advancement, and impairment of mathematical cognition.

Award: maxium is $275,000 for two years, and $200,000 for per year

This initiative encourages research that targets the reduction of health disparities among children. Specific targeted areas of research include biobehavioral studies that incorporate multiple factors that influence child health disparities such as biological (e.g., genetics, cellular, organ systems), lifestyle factors, environmental (e.g., physical and family environments) social (e.g., peers), economic, institutional, and cultural and family influences.

The FOA encourages Research Project Grant (R21) applications that propose to: (1) foster multidisciplinary research that will evaluate how policies (federal, state and school district levels) can influence school physical activity and nutrition environments, youths' obesogenic behaviors (e.g., nutrition and physical activity behaviors), and weight outcomes; (2) understand how schools are implementing these policies and examine multi-level influences on adoption and implementation at various levels (e.g., federal, state, school district, and school); and (3) understand the synergistic or counteractive effect of school nutrition and physical activity polices on the home and community environment and body weight.
RGK Foundation - Grants in Education, Community, and Health/Medicine
Award: Average is $25,000
Deadline: LOIs accepted on a rolling basis
Grants support a broad range of human services, community improvement, abuse prevention, and youth development programs. The Foundation is also interested in programs that attract female and minority students into the fields of mathematics, science, and technology.
