Kyland Introduces EoVDSL (Ethernet over VDSL), Serial Device Server Integrated Ethernet Switch for ITS/Traffic Applications
Press Release
For Immediate Release
SICOM3172
Beijing - April 4, 2013 -Kyland, a leading industrial Ethernet communication solution provider, has expanded its Traffic Ethernet Switch Series by introducing an energy efficient EoVDSL and Serial Device Server integrated Traffic Ethernet Switch, SICOM3172, for ITS/Traffic applications.

SICOM3172 is an ultra low power consumption (less than 10 Watts), managed EoVDSL & serial device server integrated traffic industrial Ethernet switch. This dual slot Ethernet switch is designed to slide into an open Detector Chassis Slot of any signal cabinet. This proven ultra low power consumption device features two EoVDSL ports with RJ11 connector, four 10/100Base-TX Ethernet port, and two serial ports being selectable for RS232, RS422 and RS485 serial connectivity. The SICOM3172 EoVDSL & Serial Device Server integrated Ethernet Switch is the third of Traffic Ethernet Switches Series form Kyland and a continuation of our green energy efficiency product line.

The SICOM3172 Traffic Ethernet Switch provides reliable, long distance Ethernet communications over telephone grade cable with speeds up to 100Mbps over up to 2km distances. These two EoVDSL uplinks cut implementation time and cost by utilizing exiting phone lines for high speed data communications. This EoVDSL & Serial Device Server Integrated Traffic Industrial Ethernet Switch can be easily installed into any traffic cabinet with an open dual slot in a detector input chassis. The industry standard form factor fits NEMA TS 1/TS 2 detector rack. Clean, filtered 24VDC power is provided directly from the back-plane of the detector chassis and eliminates adding to the mess of additional power supplies and power cables within the traffic cabinet. This 3-in-1 integration of EoVDSL, Serial Device Server and Ethernet Switch resolves the problem of very limited room inside the Traffic Control Cabinets for installing too many devices.

Designed to operate reliably in harsh industrial environments the SICOM3172 provides a high level of immunity to electromagnetic interference and heavy electrical surges typical of environments found in curb side traffic control cabinets and factory floors. An operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and exceeding NEMA TS2 requirements for Traffic control equipment allow the SICOM3172 to be placed in almost any location in ITS/Traffic applications.
