Leadership Institute Breakfast Survey

University of Hartford and Central Connecticut State University President to President Scholarships

The Office of the Dean of Student Affairs is looking for nominations for the University of Hartford President to President and Central Connecticut State University President to President scholarships. Please forward your recommendations, by Friday, April 1, 2013, including your name, the student's name, and an explanation of the basis for the recommendation to Shelley Craig, MS#9. If you are not sure that the student is a potential graduate, you can contact Gail Anne Arroyo at x3234.

Evening of Fine Wines at Manchester Community College  

Tickets are on sale for the 21st annual Evening of Fine Wines to be held on Friday, April 26 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This year's honorary chair is William H. W. Crawford, IV, President and CEO of Rockville Bank. Tickets are $75 per person and advance purchase is recommended. A group rate is available when purchasing six tickets or more for a savings of $10 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased online. For more information, call x2922 or visit the wine auction website.

Hartford CTWorks Career Center Offers Résumé Workshops, Reviews, Prior to MCC Job Fair

Having a well-written résumé often makes the difference between success and failure in terms of telling your story and making that all-important connection with a prospective employer, which can ultimately result in a job interview. "With the March 22 job fair at Manchester Community College fast approaching, we want to get the word out that our professional résumé writers from the Connecticut Department of Labor can help jobseekers who plan to attend this event but do not have a résumé or need help updating their current one," said State Labor Commissioner Sharon M. REBUILDING TOGETHER - April 27, 2013

A volunteer based program devoted to the repair and rehabilitation of homes and non-profit facilities designed primarily to serve elderly, disabled and low income homeowners. REBUILDING TOGETHER has spread across the country. Please join this community-based program and help your neighbor! Volunteer your time and services and take pride in doing your part to keep Manchester the "City of Village Charm". Pick up forms, complete and return them to Professor Lucy Anne Hurston in AST T307 or Maria Koistinen (Community Engagement Coordinator) in Lowe 219c.

Forum on Gun Violence: Manchester Reflects on Gun Violence

March 20, 2013, 7:00 PM, SBM Charitable Foundation Building

The Newtown Sandy Hook massacre has so vividly portrayed the epidemic of gun violence in our communities. This forum will allow the audience to hear different responses from community leaders along with their visions of how to address the crisis. The event will consider gun violence from four different perspectives: religious, political, educational and law enforcement. Forum presenters include Rep. Jason Rojas, 9th District (East Hartford/Manchester); Sr. Linda Pepe, CSJ, Collaborative Center for Justice Hartford; Manchester Police Chief Marc Montminy, Manchester; and Superintendent of Manchester Public Schools Dr. Richard Kisiel. Everyone is invited to attend. The forum is being sponsored by The St. Bridget New Wineskins Community and Manchester Community College. Mishi-maya-gat Spoken Word & Music Series

Guitarist Frank Varela is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music, teaches at Summit Studios in Manchester, and has recorded with such jazz legends as Larry Coryell, Jimmy McGriff, and Max Roach. Poets Ellen LaFleche and Michael Casey. Ellen has published three chapbooks, including Workers' Rites, which won the Philbrick Poetry Award. Michael, a Vietnam War veteran, has published widely since his 1972 Yale Younger award, including his newest, Check Points (Adastra Press).

CT Women's ACE Spring Conference

Regional Job Fair

The annual Regional Job Fair is open to the general public and offers free parking with no admission charge. Job seekers can meet face-to-face with more than 50 employers expected to attend this event. Career opportunities are available in all areas from management, professional, technical, medical, and sales, to manufacturing and everything in between. MCC on Main Presents The Guinea Pigs

These local CT musicians are known for their fun music consisting of folk and rock standards with a Guinea Pig spin on it, as well as, some originals. Announcement of Anticipated Opening HL-SCI Curriculum Innovation Coordinator

Under the Health and Life Sciences Career Initiative (HL-SCI) Work Plan, Manchester Community College is developing curriculum to initiate new programs and to revise existing programs in health care and life sciences. The Curriculum Innovator Coordinator will direct groups of faculty, employers and workforce development professionals to develop and align competency based curriculum with industry credentials for the creation of new certificate and degree programs in various health and life science fields. In addition, the CI will contribute to the development of science boosters and online learning courses for students in the HL-SCI program. Deadline for application is March 26.
