New Beginnings, New Resolutions Part I

by Solutions EAP

Happy New Year from Solutions EAP, and welcome to 2013. Hard to believe another year is beginning, isn't it? We hear "New Year" and translate that to new beginnings, New Year's resolutions, change.  For many of us it leads to introspections, re-evaluation of our jobs, relationships and health. This is the time of year when advertisements and sales of exercise equipment soar as many of us say "This year I'm going to get into shape, lose weight, get strong".

All of this is good. Looking at our lives and re-evaluating what we want, where we want to be,who we want to be is healthy. It's like a periodic inspection on our cars to check for safety, for good on-going performance. If we never do it, it can lead to serious problems down the road. Where it can get to be a problem is if we decide our goal is to have our Honda become a Jaguar! A lovely thought but not physically possible. When we look to make changes, non-judgmental, realistic evaluation is very important. Over the next few weeks we'll go on a little trip to look at the whole idea of change and new beginnings, evaluating, making healthy plans to accomplish our goals. Keep in mind that your Employee Assistance Program is one of your most valuable free resources in this kind of quest.

Call Solutions EAP at 1-800-526-3485 for assistance for all of life's challenges. It's free, confidential and open to your family members.
