PresidentMessage from the President Joan Fabbro

Your CAPhO Executive has been busy with many ongoing projects. We have just recently convened for a very 'fruitful' retreat here in Kelowna. There are changes coming in 2015. We are working very hard to develop a new strategic plan for CAPhO based on the vision 'CAPhO is the recognized leader of oncology pharmacy in Canada'.

The CAPhO 2020 Task Force has been formed with representation from across Canada and were able to have their first meeting in October. There will be news from the Task Force revealed at the CAPhO Conference in May 2015 in St John's, Newfoundland.

At the Executive Committee retreat we also discussed some of the ramifications that come with changing our conference and AGM dates from occurring in the Fall to now taking place in the Spring. Specifically, we discussed the effect that this change will have on the terms of office for the current CAPhO Officers.  We voted to continue having the Treasurer and President-Elect elections take place in alternating years.   Nominations for a new CAPhO treasurer will be sought in the coming New Year for installation at the AGM in May 2015.  We will be looking to find a new CAPhO President Elect for instillation at the AGM in April 2016.  The Officers in the Treasurer and 3 Presidents' positions have all agreed to stay on for the extra six months that will be required by these timing changes.

The CAPhO Bylaws are undergoing some revisions and there are plans to form a Task Force to begin updating the CAPhO Standards for Practice (2009) soon after the 2015 CAPhO Conference. The Oncology Basics Educational Module is almost completely updated and will be posted on the CAPhO website soon.

As always, I encourage you to get the word out about CAPhO to your colleagues.

I wish for you and yours to have a safe and joyous holiday season!

Joan Fabbro

President
