PresentationsMessage from the President Joan Fabbro

At this time of year, CAPhO committee members are fully engaged in preparing for 2014/2015 events, communications and initiatives.

This month, Past President, Jennifer Jupp, and Education Committee Chair Pharmacist, Tara Leslie, are facilitating a think tank session for the CAPhO 2020 Task Force, who are contributing to CAPhO's strategic plan. Many thanks to Jen, Tara and the committee members who are dedicating many hours to this work.

In November, the Executive Committee meets in Kelowna to continue work on a strategic plan for the next five years, which we began at our meetings last November in Vancouver.

CAPhO 2014 takes place at the Delta St. John's Hotel and Conference Centre from May 21 - 24. The CAPhO 2015 Co-Chairs Rick Abbott and Scott Edwards, along with the Planning Committee, are working hard to develop a leading edge and inspiring program. Join us at this important annual event in an exciting city. Registration opens in October.

As always, please contact me if you want to discuss any news in this newsletter or have any ideas about how to further engage all our Committee members!

President

When: May 21 - 24, 2015
Where: Delta St. John's Hotel and Conference Centre, St. John's, NL
Information: http://www.capho.org/capho-conference-2015

The Planning Committee is developing a program that will feature a diverse slate of plenary and breakout sessions to increase participants' skills and knowledge of the advances and issues in pharmacy in oncology. In addition to leading edge education, the program will include CAPhO's Annual General Meeting and a Townhall Meeting, which will give you and the Executive Committee the chance to discuss relevant questions affecting the association.

And, as always, there will be a number of satellite symposia taking place during the Conference. New for 2015 is a slight change in the program format to give participants an opportunity to network with peers and meet with sponsors and exhibitors earlier in the program. There will be a Welcome Reception taking place on Friday evening in lieu of the Saturday reception. The Evening Event, of great fun and enjoyment of the destination's culture and hospitality, will continue to take place on Saturday. So....make sure you plan to arrive on Thursday, May 21st to take advantage of the full Conference program.

Poster abstract submission and online registration open in the Fall. It pays to be a CAPhO member! CAPhO members receive a substantially discounted registration rate ($150 off) if you are a member in good standing the year prior to the Conference as well as a member at the time of registration.

Also, book your accommodation at the Delta St. John's Hotel now by visiting the Venue and Accommodation page for rate and booking information.

Why it's important to book at our Conference Hotel

CAPhO negotiated the lowest possible group rate as part of a contract with Delta St. John's that includes meeting room space for the Conference. By reserving your room at the Delta St. John's, you help CAPhO avoid financial penalties, and keep registration fees lower for future Conferences.

See you in St. John's!
