New Programs for Revitalization Organizations

Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) is excited to offer two new grant programs to communities in Missouri!

People Energizing Places
Starting and sustaining a Main Street organization can be challenging. MMSC's new People Energizing Places (PEP) Grant can help your Main Street organization gain additional training and expert guidance to become more effective. This new two-year program provides individualized training, focused initiatives for sustained revitalization and technical expertise developed to advance the Main Street organization's downtown development.

Strategic Teams Engaging Places
Sustaining a Main Street organization can be daunting. MMSC's new Strategic Teams Engaging Places (STEP) Grant will catapult your organization to the next level through expert guidance and training to create real change in your revitalization efforts. This new one-year program provides customized training from a detailed assessment to strategically advance the Main Street organization's downtown development.

Contact the MMSC office at 417-334-3014 or email Keith Winge at kwinge@momainstreet.org for more information about these programs.
Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) Tax Credits Available

Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) has NAP credits available and invites you to take advantage of this opportunity to partner with us in helping Missouri communities work toward their downtown revitalization and preservation goals.

Job growth in traditional commercial districts is a major economic benefit of revitalization when communities embrace the training and mentoring MMSC provides. Your contribution to MMSC will put your state income taxes to work and directly impact MMSC's mission to build economic prosperity in communities across Missouri.

MMSC can accept cash, real estate, stocks and bonds. Please call Gayla Roten, State Director, at 417-334-3014 or email glroten@momainstreet.org for questions about our organization and the NAP tax credit program.
Missouri Communities Advance in the Tier System

Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) is thrilled to announce the advancement of three Main Street communities. MMSC has a Tier System of four levels measuring the expertise and implementation of Main Street in a community. The four tiers range from Aspiring, for those starting to explore the Main Street philosophy, to Accredited, the tier reserved for National and State accredited communities performing at the highest level. In between are the Affiliate and Associate Tiers.

Blue Springs
Blue Springs Downtown Alive! moved from the Affiliate Tier to the Associate Tier. National Main Street's Senior Program Office and Director of Leadership Development visited Blue Springs with Missouri Main Street representatives early in 2015 to conduct their first assessment visit. Blue Springs successfully completed the Affiliate Grant program in 2013. Executive Director, Cindy Miller has stated several times that the Affiliate Grant program and Missouri Main Street have "played a vital role in their development." The Associate Tier is one step below full accreditation.

Moberly MO
Moberly
Both Moberly Main Street and California Progress, Inc. moved to the Affiliate Tier. Moberly Main Street has been practicing Main Street for the past 20 years with a 15-block district containing approximately 100 business. Newly hired Executive Director, Diane Richardson and the board of directors are breathing new life into the Moberly organization. The group is bringing new awareness to the downtown district, improving communications and solidifying partnerships with the Chamber of Commerce, City of Moberly and others.

California MO
California
California Progress, Inc. (CPI) completed the Affiliate Grant program in 2014 and is quickly putting the knowledge they learned into action. After a long history as a community-driven organization, and with the desire to advance their knowledge and focus on the downtown district, CPI applied and was accepted into the Affiliate Grant program. Through the leadership of the board of directors and Executive Director, Susan Burger, the organization is focusing on beautification projects, administering a no-interest loan program, branding their organization, and recruiting new businesses.
