Habitat for Humanity creates opportunities for people who need a hand up. Among those opportunities is the chance for families to see that, even when the world seems like a place that forgotthem, there are people who care. This simple fact, so obviously communicated when volunteers like you show up at the build site, can be a lifeline to a struggling family. You care - and that is just as important as the walls and roof you have helped build. I truly believe that when a house is built with more than lumber and nails - when it is also built with compassion and kindness - the very walls are imbued with love. I know that you don't volunteer because you want a pat on the back. But I still feel that I need to tell you how much you mean to me and, perhaps more importantly, to the families you have worked with.
We hope that you have a wonderful holiday season and that it is joyful for your family.
