Our Family Partner in Truro, Melissa Wheeler, has a young son who attends Cape Cod Children's Place. The staff sent a team to support Melissa and her family by working on the house one Saturday. Thanks to the Children's Place Team for some great work!
Thanks to the St. Joan of Arc Team for participating in Faith Build 2012 at our Eastham site. This team got a lot accomplished, and the house is really shaping up.

We are proud to announce that the Volunteer of the Year award at this year's Philanthropy Day on Nov. 14 will go to Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod volunteer Donald C. Dickinson. Congratulations, Don, on receiving this prestigious award.
For many many years, Don Dickinson was Habitat's - and Cape Cod's - "renaissance man of affordable housing." With his background as a professional architect, and his construction supervisor's license, he was quickly promoted to volunteer construction manager when he volunteered to work with Habitat back in 1995. Since then, he served as construction manager and/or project manager several times, managing both one-house projects as well the 16-home subdivision at Danvers Way built out in 2003 - 2005.
But his most significant accomplishments have been as Habitat's lead volunteer in the area of Land Acquisition, where his work has resulted in providing the building lots for affordable homes for more than 75 Cape Cod families, including those currently or soon to be in construction.
Over the years Don has served two terms as Board President, as well as lengthy terms of services as Chair of Land Acquisition, and Chair of Design & Construction. While president, driven by a deep awareness of critical community need, he shared a vision of an organization that would have a greater capacity to serve. With time, and an occasional misstep, we have been growing into that organization.
An important part of what Don has done for Habitat is to represent us with great professionalism. He set a standard of quality and competence. He inspired the confidence of others. He is gentle man, a formidable yet humble servant, possessed of a special passion for the way we work, directly in partnership with families.
Congratulations, Don.
