Greetings! Happy New Year! 2011 was a wonderful year for Habitat, thanks to you, our supporters and volunteers. We are so grateful to the many generous donors who answered our Holiday Appeal. You can rest assured that your gift is going directly to helping those who need it most- Cape Cod families living in situations of critical housing needs. Since November 1, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod raised $94,307 from individuals and businesses, Faith Build 2012 events and grants. And we welcomed 74 new donors to the Habitat family! Thank you for your commitment to help improve circumstances for families on Cape Cod and furthering our mission to help families in need by building more homes, hope, lives and community. We couldn't do any of this without our volunteers and supporters. So here's to a spectacular 2012 together! With gratitude, the HHCC staff |

Thanks and kudos!

On January 5th, we acknowledged the "retirement" of Don Dickinson from his 15 year career as Habitat's volunteer Director of land acquisition and project permitting.
Don got involved with Habitat during the construction of our 8th house (located in Sandwich), which was completed in early 1996. He swiftly moved into a leadership role in Land Acquisition. As we are now constructing our 75th Habitat for Humanity home, have built an additional 11 "conventional" affordable homes, AND have site control sufficient for another 9 houses. We will leave you to do the math and consider the significance of his work and legacy.
Happily for us, Don continues to serve on our Board of Directors and as a volunteer with Land Acquisition Committee. We look forward to his continued advice and participation - but at a reduced pace and with a significantly lesser time commitment
Thank you, Don, for your years of important and effective service on behalf of those in our community who need an opportunity for a decent affordable home, and a better life.

Welcome Leedara! | |
We are pleased to welcome Leedara Zola to her new part time staff position as our Director of Land Acquisition and Project Permitting. She is taking over the responsibilities most recently carried out by volunteer Don Dickinson, as well as acting as the staff support person to the Land Acquisition/Project Permitting Committee, chaired by Warren Brodie. She may be contacted at our office at 508 362 3559 x18 or lzola@habitatcapecod.org
For the past five years, Leedara has been working as an affordable housing consultant with clients on the Cape and off-Cape. Before that, she worked at the Nantucket Housing Office. She has a law degree from the University of California at Davis and holds a master's of business administration and Bachelor of Arts, both from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Asked about her new job, Leedara told us: "Housing is my passion. I grew up in the area, and then between college, graduate school and career I was gone for almost twenty years. On returning, I was lucky to be able to purchase a lot and build a home, but quickly realized that not all were so lucky. People I went to school with, friends and neighbors were being squeezed out of the housing market. I started volunteering with housing groups, and then started working professionally in affordable housing. I'm fortunate to be able to do something I care so much about. I'm excited to work with the Habitat team and dedicate my experience and skillset to meet the goal of helping the 100th Cape Cod Habitat for Humanity family become homeowners."
