It's lucky Week 13 at Fresh Fork Market.

We're headed into the last full week of August and Week 13. After last week's marathon, this week's bag is (hopefully) more of a sprint. In order to keep on budget for the season, as well as take advantage of all this amazing produce, all three small bags (omnivore, vegetarian and vegan) are the same.

We do this a few times each season, mostly in an effort to help out our farmers who have so much growing and growing well that we need to take it off their hands. If we didn't, a good deal of it would unfortunately be left to waste in the fields. Makes for good compost, but a huge loss for our farmers who rely on Fresh Fork as a market for their food. So it's a veggie-heavy bag, but it's all delicious and some new-to-this season features, too!

What's in the bag: all the bags have a beautiful, frilled bulb of fennel. And don't toss those fronds! Use them to flavor cocktails, make a pesto, or finely chop and add to a salads. Speaking of salad, fennel pairs really well with the sweetness of carrots and apples (both also in this bag): try the trio in a salad or roasted together as a side dish. Each bag also has more tomatoes (multicolor heirloom cherry tomatoes and full size heirlooms), sweet corn and spaghetti squash! The Large Share subscribers will get a bunch of extra produce-- potatoes, cabbage, peaches, and beets-- and the omnivores will get to tuck into some pork chops.

Thanks for everyone's patience last week with the late starts, heavy bags and rain. It was quite a week, but hopefully you all enjoyed the big bags and extra produce. Our subscribers are the best-- we saw and heard so many supportive comments, helpful suggestions, and we love reading your recipe ideas online. Keep on sharing!

Rocky River's stop had flowers for sale last week, and they were such a hit they sold out in minutes! As long as they're available, we will keep bringing them to the stops.

Reminders
Rocky River's stop is moving across the street from Market.

As of last week, we have moved the Rocky River pick up location right across from Market restaurant on Ingersoll and Linda. We've been using the big truck lately (super helpful with these big bags and how big this stop has become) but we're clogging up Market's lot and we need some more wiggle room!

There will be a sign up again this week pointing out the new location, which you should be able to see from the street. See you on Saturday!

Announcements
Registration for Winter Share 2016-17 is Open!

It may be hot and steamy outside, but we're already getting ready for winter here at Fresh Fork. The quick details:

Dates: The season runs from November 2nd - May 6th.

Pick Ups: Every week for the first three weeks, then every other week after that (to skip the week of Christmas and Thanksgiving) for a total of 15 Share Weeks. Locations are listed here. Please note the different times and schedule than the Summer Share.

Cost: $675 for the 15 week season. Full upfront or divided payment plan available (half down upfront, and the second half due in January.) We also have a Full-Access Add On which works the same as summer-- for an additional $25/week, you'll get $30/week in extras to spend whenever you want over the course of the share. More details here

Options: One size bag, which is between a Summer Share's Small and Large bag. We do have a limited number of Vegetarian Shares available for the winter, but not many because of the deep cold NE Ohio experiences in mid-Winter makes it tough to find locally-grown and produced substantial vegetarian options. If you were a Winter Veggie Promo subscriber last year, there will be fewer prepared entres this year and more ingredients in each bag. More details here

What's in the bag: At the beginning of the season, the bags are heavy and full of cold-hardy vegetables like squashes, root veggies and dark leafy greens. Towards the middle of season, when less is growing, you'll see some more frozen fruits and vegetables that were processed at their height of flavor during the summer (we're doing this right now with berries, tomatoes and corn!) At the end of the season, the bags will be smaller, but you'll start to see some signs of spring like eggs, tender greens and green-house grown lettuces. If you love our meat selections, then the Omnivore Package is a great bet-- a substantial protein in each week's bag perfect for stews, braises and roasts to keep you warm all winter long. There are limited spots available, so sign up soon!
