Hi there!

Welcome to Week 8 of the Winter Share!

We are now settled into the exact middle of the Winter Share-- including this bag, there are only 8 bags left of the Winter Share Program. We hope you're enjoying it so far!

True to our word, you'll have some more frozen vegetables in this bag and some more root vegetables-- radishes, rutabagas, parsnips and carrots. And you will also be seeing (for the LAST TIME this share, we hope!) a butternut and an acorn squash. It keeps better at your house than in our warehouse (piled in large, vegetable bins). In case you're suffering from squash overload, here are some recommendations:

  • Store the squash out of direct sunlight. Make sure to turn over every once in a while and check for soft spots which indicate over-ripeness. Acorn squash should keep for about 4 weeks, and butternut up to 3 mos (or maybe longer.)
  • Cook all the squash right away by roasting it in parts. Once roasted, allow to cook and separate into freezer-safe bags and keep for later use in soups or casseroles.
  • Let your kids decorate them and make charming paper-weights or door stops to give to grandparents (kidding!)
Squash is a mammoth Winter staple here in Ohio, so if you have any favorite preparations, please share them on our Facebook page to inspire your fellow Forkers!

The root veggies you have in your bag will also keep for weeks and weeks if you're not ready to use them yet. First, wash and lightly scrub them, and make sure any greens or tops are removed. Store wrapped in a damp paper towel inside a plastic bag in your crisper drawer to make sure they don't dry out.

First things first: here are some important details about your share:

Did you know about our Visual Guide to Fresh Fork?

Curious what that funky looking root veggie is that you find in your bag? We have two ways for you to find out! Every share week on Wednesday, we publish a Bag Contents post on our website that shows pictures of the whole bag as well as portraits of each individual item. Each week you can just go to our website and click on BAG CONTENTS on the top menu bar (look above main menu; background in white) on the top right of the page. There are also handy-dandy links there to sign in, see our Winter Stop locations if you miss your pick up, or join up for a new share.

If you don't remember the name of that delicious vegetable you had a while ago, but you'd remember if you saw a picture of it, we also have a Visual Guide to all of our products. Click here to scroll through the pictures, or go to our website and hover over "OUR FOOD" on the menu bar to see all the different categories.

FAQ- What is the Full Access Program?

We have a great deal for those of you who like to buy extras-- the Full Access Program. It's basically an add-on purchase: select whatever Share option and size you'd like (Small Vegetarian, Large Omnivore, etc.), and then if you tack on the Full Access Plan, you'll pay an additional $25 per week (paid upfront- $550 cash/check) and you'll receive $30/week in credits to spend ($660) throughout the Summer.

If you regularly buy $15-$40 in extras each week and have the cash to pay for it up front, this is a huge savings.  Additional 3% processing fee if paying by credit card, see our Pricing Page for full details.
