Week 13 Winter Share

Turkey Burgers, Green Onion Brats, Spring Carrots, and more

April 07, 2014   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Greetings!

This past week it seems like spring came rushing in.  What a great feeling.  I know I actually saw buds on trees yesterday and day lillies poking up through the ground.

We are on the home stretch with the Winter Share with just 3 deliveries left.  I hope you have enjoyed the winter season so far.   I think we have had some great bags, good selection of food (despite the cold), and lots of it.

These next 3 bags will be on the small side.  The winter season is front loaded and all winter I've had a hard time holding back food when it fits so well into that week's theme.  In short, I'm way over budget on you for the season and have to make up some ground over the next few deliveries.

For this week's bag, I'm particularly excited about Harvey's young carrots and mixed greens (mizuna, kale, chard, etc).  He has these in unheated hoop houses in Middlefield and just the solar energy trapped inside the hoop house, starting in early March, has allowed him to get a fresh crop of greens and give some energy to the carrots he planted last fall.

We also have an abundance of apples this week.  Rich at Eshlemans Fruit Farm in Clyde (near Sandusky) works a hard bargain.  I called to order apples for this week, and he doubled my order at no cost.  So this week the Granny Smith apples are on Rich.  Please keep Eshlemans in mind this fall when you are thinking of taking the family to pick apples or enjoy harvest activities.

New Greek Yogurt

For those who didn't get to try the yogurt last delivery cycle, we have more coming in tomorrow.  This yogurt is very thick, has a nice tang, and pairs perfectly with some of the frozen fruits or canned peaches that have been in the bag.  The best part about this yogurt is that it is still just one ingredient - cultured milk.

This yogurt is available in quarts only and is $7 per quart.  Please preorder it as we have limited availability this week.  Preorder by Tuesday midnight at http://csalogin.freshforkmarket.com

A Few Easter Hams Left

As of right now, we have 7 Easter hams left.  These hams are 9 to 10 lbs, Berkshire pasture raised pork.  The ham has been smoked and is ready to warm up and eat.

The only hams we have left are only available for pickup at our warehouse on Thurs, April 17 or Fri, April 18.  The pigs are still walking so these hams will literally be right out of the smoker when you get it next week.

To order, please  place your order online at http://csalogin.freshforkmarket.com

Summer Season Registration Open

Registration is now open to everyone and for returning customers with no balance, all you need to do is reserve your spot.  No further payment is due until May.  Please do this ASAP.

For new members, a $25 membership fee is due.

Full details about the summer program, our new pickup locations (including Avon and Medina), and extended hours (Lakewood, Strongsville, downtown) are all available at:  http://www.freshforkmarket.com
