Week 16 Summer Share

Concord Grapes, New Cheese, Beets, and Beans

Sept 17, 2013   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Greetings!

This week we are excited to feature a delicious cheese from Canal Junction Creamery.  This cheese is called Flat Rock, and the cheesemaker Brian modeled it after the Abondance cheese of southeast France.  This cheese I think is the best representation of what Brian is doing because of what his family has been doing to change the genetics of their herd.  They have actively been incorporating Normande genetics into their herd (from Normandy, France). The Normande breed is known for its rich milk as well as good meat qualities.  Brian's family hopes to explore both.

In addition to the Flat Rock we have a good assortment of colors in this week's bag. San Marzano Roma Tomatoes, Heirloom Tomatoes, Green Beans, Lettuce, and Concord Grapes!

For the large subscribers this week, we have a special treat.  We have garlic dill pickle chips from Wake Robin Foods. These are fermented pickles, hence they must remain refrigerated.  The advantage of this over canning them is that all the good enzymes are alive in the pickles and will help with digestion.  The large members will also get some delicious fingerling potatoes, daikon radishes, lima beans, and cantaloupe. This week's cantaloupe is a new variety we are experimenting with this week.  It has a green, darker texture to it and is very firm.  The inside is relatively deep orange and firm, yet ripe.

Also, this week is another vegetarian bag.  I didn't expect that when I ordered some of the items so there are vegetarian additions which will be deducted from future bags.

Vanilla Yogurt on Sale

I must not have been paying attention when I ordered yogurt last week.  I have a lot of Vanilla yogurt this week.  In an effort to get it in your hands while it is fresh, it is on sale for $5 per unit.  Same goes for Gingamon this week.   Please pre-order the discounted yogurts to make sure you get them.  http://csalogin.freshforkmarket.com

Also, for the ever popular Lemon Ginger Yogurt, we have ordered more (again) and hope to have it available on the trucks this week in addition to online pre-order.  If you do want to ensure you get it, please pre-order it.   The Lemon Ginger Yogurt is the very thick, cream top dessert yogurt from Snowville Creamery.  It has a layer of cream on top that you can cut through to eat or plunge it down into the yogurt and mix it in.  It is very rich and is excellent with fresh peaches or blackberries.

To guarantee that you get it, please preorder online at http://csalogin.freshforkmarket.com before Tuesday at midnight.
