Week 13 Summer CSA Package

This week we have another big bag!  This will be just in time for anyone wanting to entertain this holiday weekend.  


This week's bag is also a vegetarian assortment, so it is perfect to demonstrate the bounty of Ohio's summer.  For anyone needing some proteins for this weekend, don't forget to stock up on ground beef, sausages, and other cuts available either online or at the back of the truck.  


Our large customers get a special treat this week.  We've been working on this package for a while.  The large customers get fresh mozzarella, two balls of frozen pizza dough, and a jar of homemade, heirloom tomato sauce.

The sauce is especially important.  Clark from Clark Pope Catering has been working on this sauce all August.  Each week he has been taking the beautiful heirloom tomatoes we have been getting, quartering them up, and roasting them for over two hours at 400 degrees until the flavors are concentrated.  He's then transferring the tomatoes to a stock pot and cooking them down further with a blend of fresh herbs and seasonings.  The final product is delicious and truly authentic (oh, and beautiful). 

We will have additional quarts of the tomato sauce available at the back of the truck for sale.  Each quart is $8 per quart.  We also have a very nice roasted cherry tomato product as well.  It goes excellent on pizzas, on BLTS, with pasta, or on a relish/cheese tray.  Clark makes this product by roasting the mixed color heirloom cherry tomatoes with a unique fig vinegar, tossing them with a blend of garden fresh herbs, and canning them.  This is one of our best sellers all winter! Those will be available for $5 per pint. 



Summer Week 12: 

Small CSA Share

1 bunch cylindra beets (longer than traditional red beets)

1 quart whole milk yogurt

1 spaghetti squash

1 acorn squash

1 cantaloupe or 1 pint blackberries

1 bag mixed peppers or zucchini/squash (or possible substitute...squash shut off this week)

1 lb red fortune plums (Friday and Saturday customers got these last week)

2 lb roma tomatoes (make your own sauce)

1 kohlrabi

1 bunch collards

6 ears sweet corn


Large CSA Share Small contents above plus:

1 ball fresh mozzarella cheese  (being made today...can't wait)

2 frozen pizza dough balls

1 pint heirloom tomato sauce

A handful hot hungarian peppers

Approx 1.5 lbs heirloom tomatoes

Small contents, items below in replacement of yogurt.
