States Equine Rescue League (USERL).  I have fostered and found adoption homes for two horses since September. These horses come from an unknown training background.  I start them with groundwork and then get them started under saddle.  I do as much as I can with them until they are adopted. It has been a very satisfying experience.

Latest Horse training: I attended Chris Cox Horsemanship in Mineral Wells, TX. I've been to his ranch twice in the last year and a half and plan to return this fall for additional horsemanship training. It has been the best experience on my horsemanship journey. Chris personally instructs his horsemanship classes and his feedback has been valuable.

MEM experience: I went through the MEM course before it was available all online so I am excited to see the evolution of the program. I am glad that I can be a host site and to support future MEM students.

Carna Jackson lives in Chesapeake, VA. She has participated in a number of ISU programs. Carna has qualified to hold a Master Equine Manager hands-on workshop at her facility. The program will be held May 18th.

The horse is under a self-imposed quarantine by the facility's owners in Marion. The remaining positive cases have been in horses located in eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. At least 3 of the horses have been euthanized. Biosecurity

EHV1 Nasal Discharge The recent outbreak of EHV-1 and Strangles cases illustrates the need for horse people to practice more Biosecurity. One has to remember disease may not always be present, especially in the early stages.

Biosecurity means that, if you work or come into contact with horses or other farm animals, you make sure that good hygiene practices are in place. This will help prevent the spread of animal disease. Good biosecurity is a vital part of keeping horses free from disease.

Listed below are excellent resources for practicing Biosecurity.
