GULF SHORES, Ala. (Aug. 9, 2013)-The editors of ConventionSouth magazine, a national multimedia resource for planning successful meetings and events that are held within the South, have officially announced their hot picks for the "South's Historic College Towns With Hip Group Appeal" in 2014. After an in-depth review of historic college towns across the South, editors narrowed their selections to one city in each state within the magazine's 15 state coverage area.

"From preserved historic buildings and campus charm to nostalgic experiences and traditions, these college towns have a unique ability to offer groups an enriching opportunity that blends together the past, the present and the future," said Marlane Bundock, editor and associate publisher of ConventionSouth. "Along with their historic ambiance, they provide numerous advantages to groups such as vibrant yet retreat-like settings, walkability and access to hip entertainment, and resources for education, training and charity."

The September issue of ConventionSouth will spotlight each of the following editor's hot picks for the "South's Historic College Towns With Hip Group Appeal" in 2014 along with what makes each uniquely appealing to groups for meetings and events:

-Tuscaloosa, Alabama (University of Alabama)

-Fayetteville, Arkansas (University of Arkansas)

-Athens, Georgia  (University of Georgia)

-Gainesville, Florida (University of Florida)

-Bowling Green, Kentucky (Western Kentucky University)

-Lafayette, Louisiana (University of Louisiana at Lafayette)

"In the September issue of ConventionSouth, meeting and event planners from across the country will learn how to incorporate the historical and hip elements of each college town into their events; therefore creating a more meaningful and memorable gathering that capitalizes on the energy of each historic college campus," Bundock said.

Celebrating 30 years as a leading meeting planning resource, ConventionSouth magazine is based in Gulf Shores, Ala., and is distributed to more than 18,000 meeting professionals located across the country who are interested in booking meetings within the South, according to Bundock.
