ohareO'Hare Runway Rotation Continues, Feedback Sought
An overnight runway rotation trial requested by the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) is continuing through December as a measure designed to provide more balance of
nighttime flight noise throughout the region. With an average of 80 flights each night, the 12-week rotation plan includes a primary and secondary runway configuration and will be used during the lowest demand hours at O'Hare.

As developed, the rotation plan seeks to balance east and west flow runway use to the greatest extent possible and also to avoid impacting the same communities two weeks in a row to provide relief for residents.

The runway rotation trial will continue through the end of the year, and the trial will be used to gauge the effectiveness of a runway rotation plan during normal airfield operations, during runway closures due to construction and maintenance, and during the varying weather and wind conditions that occur at O'Hare. The ONCC is collecting community feedback through an online survey. Residents are encouraged to provide their feedback throughout the trial so that it can be used as part of the program evaluation. More information on the runway rotation program is available on the website.

ConstructionConstruction Updates
Prairie Center Parking Lot Resurfacing
The Prairie Center parking lot will be reopened September 17 through the late evening of September 20 to accommodate activities. The lot will close again from September 21 through September 23, weather permitting, for crews to complete the remainder of the resurfacing improvements. Access to Prairie Center from Schaumburg Road will remain open at all times during the project. Visit the village's website to view a map of the closure.

W-Section Watermain Improvements
Construction is underway to replace part of the existing aging watermain within the W-section subdivision. Weather permitting, the work is anticipated to be complete in November. The streets affected include:
  • Weathersfield Way: Walnut to Whittier
  • Walnut Lane: Weathersfield to Warwick
  • Whittier Lane
  • Whittier Court
  • Winston Lane
  • Waverly Lane
New water services will be installed up to the water service valve near the sidewalk and restoration of all disturbed pavement and parkway areas. Residents may experience some temporary disruptions in water service as part of the project. Please slow down and use caution in the area. For additional updates, visit the village's website.

Meacham Road and American Lane Pedestrian Enhancements
Crews are preparing to install signal enhancements for the intersection of Meacham Road and American Lane. The project is anticipated to be complete in September. For additional information, please contact the village at (847) 923-6681.

Springinsguth Road Improvements
Pavement milling will begin today through Sept. 17 on Springinsguth Road on the south end to Irving Park Road. The contractor plans to install the new asphalt pavement Monday, Sept. 19, weather permitting. Both milling and paving will require a large number of trucks, and flaggers will be onsite to assist with traffic flow. Please use caution while driving through the construction zone.

Wiley Road Improvements
As part of the I-90 project, Meade Electric began work for ComEd on the west end of Wiley Road near Plum Grove Road. Wiley Road has been reduced to one lane and temporary traffic signals are in place. Meade's work will take approximately one month to complete. Once their work is complete, the contractors will begin milling the pavement, with pavement patching and final surface placement. There is also a small amount of work to complete at the Tower Road and Wiley Road intersection, which will be completed next week. For additional updates, visit the village's website.

I-90 Tollway Updates
Expect daily 9am to 3pm lane closures on both Meacham Road and Roselle Road through the I-90 bridge projects over the next few weeks.  Both contractors are preparing to complete remaining work and may need the additional protection a lane closure provides for their crews and vehicles.

The Meacham Road bridge will open all lanes to traffic in the near future. The contractor needs to install the new lane markings and restart the traffic signals before opening the roadway. Additional details will follow. Visit the village's website for further information and other updates on this project.
