New Village LED Signs Installed

Crews installed the new LED sign just north of the Prairie Center for the Arts this week. The sign is one of three new signs that replaced old marquees in the village. The other new signs are located at the corner of Schaumburg Road and Summit Drive and in front of the police and fire station near 950 W. Schaumburg Road. The new signs will continue to promote village programs and events as has been past practice but will offer greater flexibility in how messages are displayed and will increase the frequency in which messages can be conveyed to the public.

The survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and is open to all members of the community. Take the survey.

cdbgCommunity Development Block Grant Survey Results
Last fall, the village sent a survey to a sampling of 2,776 residents seeking feedback on Community Development Block Grant funds received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist low and moderate-income residents.

Survey recipients were asked to provide feedback on a variety of topics including economic development projects, creating/retaining jobs, or providing assistance to bring specific businesses to certain areas of the village as well as public facility and infrastructure projects.

The village received 261 completed surveys which represents a nine percent total response rate of all the surveys that were distributed. Overall, the trends across the six surveyed "target areas" were relatively uniform; however, there was some feedback that varied by individual target area. The surveys were broken down and subsequently analyzed by two categories: Economic Development and Public Facility/Infrastructure. A full list of the results can be found on the village's website.

The village is using the survey results to help select capital improvement projects within the surveyed target areas. Going forward, the survey results will continue to be used to identify capital improvement and economic development priorities in the village. For more information on CDBG funding, visit the website, contact Marisa Krawiec or dial 311 in the village.

schoolBack to School Safety Reminders
Taking proper safety precautions will ensure a safe school year for everyone. Motorists should remember to share the roads safely with school buses, bicyclists, and pedestrians. It is extremely essential to provide children with the necessary knowledge to stay safe on their way to and from school.

Motorists
Slow down and pay attention when kids are present, and keep in mind many children are walking or riding their bicycles to and from school and getting on and off busses. Texting while driving is against the law and the use of cell phones in school zones is prohibited.
  • Do not block crosswalks with your vehicle.
  • Stop and yield to crossing pedestrians.
  • Look carefully for children in school zones.
  • Never pass a vehicle if stopped for a pedestrian.
  • Watch for bicycles coming from driveways or behind/between parked cars.
  • Never pass a bus from behind or from either direction on an undivided road if it is stopped to load or unload children.
  • If the bus lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended, traffic must stop.
