Village Looking for Host Families for German Visitors in Fall

The Village of Schaumburg is looking for host families to accommodate five to seven German visitors who will be visiting the village in late October. A host family will be needed for each visitor. Each host is responsible for providing accommodations, breakfasts & dinners, and transportation for their German visitor. The host will also need to provide meals and entertainment over the weekend period for the visitor and must reside in Schaumburg. In exchange for hosting a German visitor, the host will have an opportunity to travel to Germany during a future outbound exchange trip. The village established its Sister Cities relationship with Schaumburg, Germany, in 1983. Contact the Director of Community Services Kathleen Tempesta at (847) 923-4718 if you would be interested in hosting a visitor as part of this exchange.

On a somewhat related note...Schaumburg's Sports Club Youth Soccer Team departed for Germany on June 16. A total of 12 boys, two coaches and two parents have made the trip and will be staying with their team counterparts in Germany as part of the Special Partner Youth Outbound trip.

compplanPublic Invited to Comprehensive Plan Workshop June 21
The Village of Schaumburg is beginning a process to update its comprehensive plan, a year-long initiative that will provide the village with a new plan intended to guide future planning and development in Schaumburg.

As part of the project, the public is invited to attend the first comprehensive plan workshop that will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 21 at the Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Ct. The current comprehensive plan was last updated in 1996 and, since that time, significant development and redevelopment has occurred in the village. The village is working together with Houseal Lavigne Associates, LLC, to review the policies and directives in the current plan; perform community outreach; and create the new vision, goals and objectives that will comprise the new plan.
