panzer60th Anniversary Fun Fact
The Panzer House was constructed in 1910 near the center of Schaumburg Centre. Located on the south side of Schaumburg Road, or Easy Street as it was known then by locals, the house was typical of many farmers' residences built near the business district. The house still stands, although its orientation was shifted when it was renovated several years ago.
farmers2016 Farmers Market Begins TODAY!
Schaumburg's 2016 Farmers Market, featuring locally-produced fruits, vegetables, baked goods and more, returns today to Town Square. The market will be open to the public from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday through the end of October and is held in the parking lot of Trickster Art Gallery, 190 S. Roselle Road. The market includes locally-grown fruits and vegetables, meats, flowers, plants and gourmet cheeses sold by the farmers who produce them. It also features decadent pastries, baked goods, olives, spices, homemade pasta and knife sharpening services. This family-friendly event also offers freshly-squeezed lemonade, kettle corn and snow cones made on site.

plantingSeniors & Teens Kick Off Summer Planting
Schaumburg's Intergenerational Garden is once again being planted. Schaumburg Barn seniors and teens engaged in active planting of fresh veggies including lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and more along with Village of Schaumburg staff. Senior community members are excited every season for the garden planting as they get to watch plants grow from inception to harvest and enjoy the benefits of eating fresh veggies in their daily diet.

Whole Foods Market in Schaumburg was inspired by the Schaumburg Barn Senior Program's efforts to feed local seniors in the community. Their special project in May was giving out Whole Foods Shopping Carts with soil in order for community partners such as the Barn to have an extra space to plant food items. The shopping cart is in its beginning phase of planting; in little as 2 weeks there will be sprouting.
ConstructionConstruction Updates
Frontage Road Resurfacing
Contractors are continuing to make progress with paving improvements for Stage 1. Concrete improvements on Wright Boulevard are continuing with daily lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Please use caution and slow down in the construction zone.

Detour routes are in place while paving improvements are being completed. Access to Long Avenue will be maintained at all times. Lighting and signal upgrades will be completed with daily lane closures as required. Pavement improvements are scheduled to be completed by June 30, weather permitting, and lighting and signal upgrades will be completed by the end of September, weather permitting.

I-90 Tollway Updates
The Roselle Road bridge contractor will move northbound traffic to the new lanes north of the I-90 bridge on Wednesday, June 15 to begin work on the median sections of Roselle Road. Expect delays and a lane closure for the installation of new pavement marking and signage. Traffic is expected to remain in this stage through August 12.

The Meacham Bridge contractor will move traffic to the new bridge in late June.

The tollway will move westbound I-90 traffic to the new outer lanes overnight June 6 to June 7; eastbound traffic will move overnight June 7 to June 8. These operations are very sensitive to weather so rains or high winds can force a delay. Remember to drive carefully through the construction zones.
Be sure to visit the village's website for further information and other updates on this project.
