nicorNicor Gas Modernization Project
Nicor Gas is currently modernizing customers' gas distribution system in the Village of Schaumburg by replacing copper gas services with new plastic gas services at 1,500 homes across the village. Work is expected to last through the end of the year. While this modernization may initially cause a minor disruption, upgrading the current gas services will assure the continued delivery of safe and reliable gas service to your home at no cost to you.

Nicor Gas will be sending letters that will include information about scheduling the replacement, possible service interruption and subsequent relighting to any properties included in this year's replacement program. A Nicor representative may need to gain access to your home or place of business to complete important steps in this modernization work, such as relighting gas appliances.

If Nicor replaces your gas service while you are away from home, they will leave a blue door hanger at your residence. The blue door hanger advises you that your gas service had to be temporarily disconnected while Nicor worked on its utilities. It also provides a contact number you can call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so that your gas service can be restored as quickly as possible. Those with questions can call Nicor directly at 1-888-Nicor4U (1-888-642-6748).
cornerWhat's New at the Corner Of...

This week's article features the considerable amount of hotel development that is underway in the Village of Schaumburg. The village currently has five hotels under construction which, when completed, will bring the total amount of hotels in Schaumburg to 30. This number represents the most of any community in the State of Illinois, outside of the City of Chicago.

The five hotels consist of a 142-room Radisson at the southwest corner of Roselle and I-90; a Hampton Inn & Suites near Granite City and Zurich Towers; an extended stay Town Place Suites and a short-stay Fairfield Inn & Suites being built side-by-side along National Parkway, near Higgins Road; and 105-room Home 2 Suites hotel at 1300 E. American Lane, immediately east of the newly opened Egg Harbor Café. Construction on the Radisson has been completed and the hotel is expected to open soon, while each of the four remaining hotels are estimated to be complete later this year.

I-90 Tollway Updates
The eastbound entrance ramp to I-90 at Barrington Road is scheduled to close at 5 a.m. Monday, April 4. The posted detour routes traffic to Roselle Road. Please plan an extra few minutes if you travel along Roselle Road in the morning. If you need to access eastbound I-90, please consider using alternate ramps farther to the east. The Barrington Road ramp is expected to reopen to traffic on May 15.

The Roselle Road bridge contractor completed the bridge beam installation work early Wednesday morning. Both bridge contractors are now working to build the formwork and install the reinforcing bars for the future roadway pavement. The Meacham Road bridge contractor could begin placing concrete on the bridge in mid-April.

Commuters who use I-90 should expect to see new contractors move in to the median areas through the village in the next month. Traffic will shift to the new pavement and the contractors will start work on completing the inside lanes of the new roadway.

Be sure to visit the village's website for further information and other updates on this project.
