ComedSchaumburg Poses Concerns Over ComEd High Voltage Lines
ComEd has proposed a West Central Reliability Project, which includes the installation of a new 138kV electric line from its Bartlett substation to its substation in Itasca. The high-voltage line is proposed to run along the south side of the I-390 (Elgin-O'Hare Expressway) corridor.

The Village of Schaumburg is opposed to the project as proposed and is advocating for the new electric infrastructure to be installed underground. The prospect of placing the proposed lines underground has been discussed with ComEd representatives. Concerns initially identified by the village include the visual appearance of the lines and poles, the potential impact on the airspace around the Schaumburg Airport and the potential impact on fireworks at Boomers Stadium.

To learn more about this project, visit the village's webpage. Residents who would like to support the village's position should contact the ICC through their state legislators whose contact information can be found on this webpage.
