Fall Risk Screening Clinic March 10
  
A free Fall Risk Screening Clinic will be offered Thursday, March 10 and Thursday, April 14. The clinic will be conducted by nurses from the Village of Schaumburg Public Health and Nursing and Physical Therapists from Amita Alexian Brothers Home Care. The clinic will be held at the Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Ct., Schaumburg. Each appointment will be 45 minutes long. Emerging Leaders is an intensive executive-level training initiative to accelerate growth of high potential small businesses located in Schaumburg and beyond. Interested in Playing in the Frontier League?
  
Baseball prospects looking for a spot on rosters in the Frontier League or the American Association can showcase their skills at a special tryout camp in Tennessee next month. Schaumburg Boomers coaches will join four Frontier League teams and the Gary SouthShore RailCats of the American Association to run the March 26 auditions. Serve the Community as a Poll Worker on Election Day
  
The Cook County Clerk's office is currently recruiting community members to serve as poll workers in its north suburban polling places during the March 15, 2016, Presidential Primary. It is a unique opportunity to get paid ($175 or $325) for serving your community and supporting local democracy. Village Seeks Plein Air Entries
  
The Village of Schaumburg is currently seeking artist entries for the 2016 Prairie Plein Air Competition and Show and the 29th Annual Prairie Arts Festival.   
 
Submitted works will be displayed in the Herb Aigner Gallery inside the Prairie Center for the Arts May 18-June 30, and will coincide with the 29th annual Prairie Arts Festival. This event is open to all plein air artists. Entries are due by Friday, April 15. For more information, visit the Prairie Center's website.

fact60th Anniversary Fun Fact
Popular pizza restaurant Lou Malnati's located at the southeast corner of Schaumburg and Roselle roads, was built in the early part of the 20th century. In its long history, it has served as a hotel, inn, tavern, hardware store, Schnute's Old Kentucky Tavern, Neimann's and more recently as the Schaumrose Inn.
volunteerVillage Seeking Nominations for Volunteer of the Year
The Village of Schaumburg is currently seeking nominations for Volunteer of the Year.

Nominations for Schaumburg's Volunteer of the Year, Volunteer Organization of the Year and Youth Individual Volunteer will be accepted through Friday, April 1. Nominees can represent social, civic, religious, community, school and medical organizations. For-profit and political organizations are excluded. Nomination materials and other information are available on the Prairie Center for the Arts website.

Award recipients will be selected by a panel of judges from nominations received from residents and the business community.  Recipients will be honored at the annual Volunteer of the Year luncheon that will take place Tuesday, April 19 at Chandler's, 401 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.

voteEarly Voting Information
Early voting for the Presidential Primary will take plavotece Monday, Feb. 29 through Monday, March 14 at Trickster Art Gallery, 190 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Voting will be available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additional early voting locations and election information can be found on the Cook County Clerk's website.
licenseOrder Your 60th Anniversary Plates
The Village of Schaumburg is offering special event license plates through the Illinois Secretary of State's office to recognize the village's 60th Anniversary.
 
Special event plates are not permanent and will only be displayed on vehicles from July 7 through Sept. 5, 2016, when the village's Septemberfest event ends. A set of plates (front and rear) is $65. Full payment and a copy of the owner's vehicle registration ID card will be required to process the transaction. One hundred sets of plates will be produced so they will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis. The village reserves the right to determine plate numbers; requests for plate numbers will not be granted. All orders must be received by March 22, 2016. Orange Theory Fitness hosted a ribbon cutting Feb. 18 for the opening of its newest fitness studio located at 16C E. Golf Road. Orange Theory is a group fitness concept that focuses on intervals of cardiovascular and strength training designed for maximum energy and calorie burn. The Orange Theory Fitness trainers guide members through a 60-minute workout utilizing treadmills, rowing machines, TRX suspension training and free weights to help tone and strengthen the body. Tulsi Grocers (873 E. Schaumburg Road)
Tulsi Grocers will be the newest tenant at Spring Valley Plaza, which is located on the southeast corner of Schaumburg and Plum Grove roads. The Tulsi space, formerly occupied by Patel Brothers before its move to Golf Road, is approximately 3,000 square feet in size and will serve a number of produce and grocery items. More information on Tulsi Grocers will be provided as it becomes available.
murielMuriel Anderson Tickets Available for March 6 Performance
Tickets are available for guitarist Muriel Anderson who will be performing at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at the Prairie Center for the Arts located at 201 Schaumburg Ct. in Schaumburg. One of the world's foremost fingerstyle and harp-guitarists, Muriel Anderson performs original music and arrangements with stunning visuals by celebrated photo-artist Bryan Allen.  Tickets for the event are $20 ($18 for seniors and students) and can be ordered online or by calling (847) 895-3600.

I-90 Tollway Updates
The Meacham contractor is expected to finish installing the last of the main bridge's beams by Friday morning. Additional beams for the small, northern bridge are expected to be installed in mid-March. The Roselle contractor is currently working on the demolition of the existing center pier. Once that is gone, work will begin on the new pier that will support the rest of the new bridge pavement. Be sure to visit the village's website for further information and other updates on this project.

Feb. 27: ComEd Transmission Line
Schaumburg Township officials will hold a public meeting 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 27 to share the latest information on ComEd's proposed new 138kV electric transmission line along the south side of the I-390 corridor.
