Upcoming Holiday Closures
  
The Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center and all Schaumburg administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27 in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Residents who need assistance can call the village's Customer Service Representatives by dialing 311 with any questions or concerns. Residents can also visit the village website for more information about the village and its services.
         
Woodfield Trolley Service Expands for the Holidays
  
The Village of Schaumburg's Woodfield Trolley will expand its service to run daily beginning Friday, November 27 through Sunday, January 3. 

Additional trolleys will also be in service during the holidays which will reduce wait times in between trolleys to approximately every 15-20 minutes making this transportation mode more convenient for the public. Learn more.
         
Village's Electric Aggregation Program with First Energy Solutions
  
The Village of Schaumburg's municipal electric aggregation program supplier is First Energy Solutions. Residents may be receiving standard letters from the company regarding the program. In 2014, the village entered into a 3-year agreement with First Energy Solutions to supply electricity to residents - an initiative that has helped save the typical resident $140 per year. Police Records Hours Changing
  
The village would like to inform you that the Schaumburg Police Records Divison will be changing its hours beginning Monday, Nov. 30. The new hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents with questions can call 311 in Schaumburg or (847) 895-4500 outside of Schaumburg.
         
Scam Prevention Presentation Offered Dec. 1 at Police Dept.
  
The block captains for the Neighborhood Watch in Dunbar Lakes Community Association are holding a Scam Prevention Presentation and Neighborhood Watch Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Schaumburg Police Department, 1000 W. Schaumburg Rd. Detectives from the police department will be hosting the scam prevention presentation. The event is open to the public. Attendees are asked to RSVP by emailing Laura Collins or calling (847) 882-7292; or emailing Kathy Bennis or calling (847) 490-1217. 
         
Give Back During the Holidays, Donate Blood on Dec. 3
  
The holidays are a great time to give back to the community. What better way to help someone than by donating blood. The village's next blood drive will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at The Barn, 231 S. Civic Dr., Schaumburg. The blood drive is open to the public. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Visit the village's webpage for more information or call (877) 543-3768 to register.
    
Serve the Community on Election Day. Do Good. Get Paid.
  
The Cook County Clerk's office is currently recruiting community members to serve as poll workers in its north suburban polling places during the March 15, 2016, Presidential Primary.  It is a unique opportunity to get paid ($175 or $325) for serving your community and supporting local democracy. Village Offers Family Counseling
 
Located in the Turret House, 17 E. Schaumburg Road, the Village of Schaumburg Family Counseling Center provides affordable family, couple, and individual counseling to municipal residents. Services are provided by experienced, licensed therapists who are able to assist you with a wide variety of problems, including parenting issues, relationship problems, stress management, anxiety and depression and more. Insurance is accepted from those who have it, and a sliding scale fee system is utilized for those without insurance.  Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. TransWorld's Holiday Jewelry, Fashion and Accessories Show
 
TransWorld Exhibits is one of the largest tradeshow producers bringing the public a bustling shopping environment with hundreds of vendors of apparel, accessories and excitement. The show will be held Dec. 3-6 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center. For tickets and additional information, visit the website.

silenceA Moment of Silence    
In addition to flying our flags at half mast this week, village employees will be joining the National League of Cities by participating in a moment of silence at 2:20 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 in a show of support and solidarity with the City of Paris and all other communities that have been affected by global terrorism. The moment of silence will commence at 2:20 p.m. Central Time, which was the moment the attacks started in Paris.
treeCelebrate the Holidays with 
Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony     
The Village of Schaumburg invites the public to attend the annual tree lighting ceremony on Friday, Nov. 27 that will include a visit from Santa Claus.

The evening's activities will begin with holiday caroling at 6 p.m. at the Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court. The Schaumburg Fire Department will escort Santa who will arrive at 6:30 p.m. in the plaza between the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center and the Prairie Center for the Arts.
The plaza tree will be decorated with ornaments crafted by area youth groups and organizations. Santa will be greeted by village officials who will assist him with his lighting duties.
 
After the tree is lit, Santa will meet with youngsters in the Prairie Center's Maggie Atcher Theatre where parents are encouraged to bring their cameras for photos. Seasonal entertainment will be featured and refreshments will be served. The event is co-sponsored with the Schaumburg Jaycees. For a complete schedule of events, read the press release.
surveyTake the Public Transportation Survey   
The Village of Schaumburg wants to hear from you! The village is conducting a survey regarding public transportation and we're looking to gain a better understanding of the community's habits and needs. The survey is intended for anyone, whether they currently use public transportation or not so please take a moment and fill out the brief survey online. The survey closes Friday, Dec. 18, 2015. artsTrickster Art Gallery Showcase
Trickster Art Gallery welcomes the public to take part in the Trickster Gallery Showcase that will kick off Friday, Nov. 20 and run through the weekend. Friday's festivities include an artist reception and jewelry fashion show featuring clothing designer Leanne Hasson with a Mark Cleveland performance. Part of the showcase features the opening exhibit of Bunky Echo-Hawk's "Modern Warrior" exhibit that begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. The exhibit is based on Field Museum collections and will include artist presentations and workshops throughout the weekend. The holidays are a great time to enjoy the arts in Schaumburg that are offered by the Prairie Center. Catch these upcoming performances:
 
The Nutcracker
Schaumburg Dance Ensemble is bringing back 10 performances of The Nutcracker from December 4-13. With a cast of 150, inventive choreography and beautiful costumes, it is no wonder this production sells out quickly.
 
Presto! Holiday Concert
Enjoy a performance from the Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Dec. 19. This holiday show, which also features the Schaumburg Youth Choir, celebrates a variety of music of the season for a memorable experience.

belmonteNovember Business of the Month: Belmonte Printing  
The featured business of the month for November is Belmonte Printing. Belmonte Printing is a family owned and operated business that has been in Schaumburg since 1981. Tony Belmonte started his career in the printing business when he was 16 years old serving a 7 year apprenticeship with Kessler Printing and then working for Commerce Clearinghouse before setting up his Speedy Printing franchise at 525 W. Wise Road.

Belmonte Printing specializes in quality printing and quick turnaround times to meet printing needs from letterhead, to envelopes, business cards, mailings, holiday cards and postcards. Belmonte Printing offers design services to direct mail including every door direct mail as well as free delivery and pickup.

Belmonte Printing has been a longtime supporter of the community hiring local kids from Schaumburg High School, donating services to non-profits and helping with the printing needs of local churches.

crcCommunity Recreation Center Grand Reopening Nov. 21  
Join the Schaumburg Park District as it re-opens the newly enhanced Community Recreation Center (CRC) from noon to 2 p.m., Nov. 21 at 505 N. Springinsguth Rd. in Schaumburg. The grand re-opening will feature fitness, music and art class demonstrations, facility tours and a 1 p.m. ribbon cutting.

The CRC renovations include 22,000 sq.ft. of new and renovated program and fitness space. The project was undertaken in response to the most recent Schaumburg Park District citizen survey which indicated that residents put the improvements at the top of their priority list. lighthouseLighthouse Emotional Wellness Center Opens
Dr. Ray & Rev. Jean Kadkhodaian hosted a ribbon cutting Nov. 12 for the opening of their newest office at 1930 Thoreau Drive. The Lighthouse Emotional Wellness Center is one of its kind in the Midwest and offers a variety of traditional and integrative services aimed at treating the mental and emotional health of their patients. A few of these services include individual and group therapy, couples therapy, marriage counseling, family counseling, psychiatry, hypnotherapy and biofeedback. I-390 Ramp Updates
The westbound I-390 ramp to southbound Gary Avenue is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21.

I-90 Tollway Updates
Contractors on the Meacham Road project expect to pour the new concrete for pavement north and south of I-90 on Thursday, Nov. 19 and Monday, Nov. 23 through Wednesday, Nov. 25. As part of that work, they temporarily closed the driveway off Meacham into the Renaissance Center; please use Thoreau for access to the hotel and convention parking lots.

Contractors working on the Roselle Road project expect to complete work on the northern and southern bridge abutments and the culvert crossing north of Central. After the Thanksgiving holiday weekend the contractor plans to focus on building the new pavement on the west side of Roselle Road south of I-90. Contractors are planning to work on Friday, Nov. 27; however, work should not interfere with traffic.
