A drop box is now available outside the Village Manager's Office, and the organization is requesting items such as canned vegetables, breakfast items, peanut butter and jelly, and other boxed or canned items. Donations will be accepted through Friday, Nov. 20 and will help feed hundreds of local families who are living at or below the poverty line. Proper Leaf Disposal

The Village of Schaumburg would like to remind residents not to rake leaves or put grass clippings in the street. Debris left in the street may cause storm water to back up if the leaves block and clog sewers and inlets. For this reason, leaves cannot be blown or disposed of into village streets or raked into the parkways. This is a violation of the Village Code of Ordinances. A warning notice will be issued to residents who do not properly prepare their landscape waste for pick-up. For more information on proper yard waste disposal, visit the village's website or contact the Engineering and Public Works Department by calling (847) 895-7100.

Employment Opportunities:

Schaumburg Road Nov. 5 to make way for future redevelopment of the area that is located close to Schaumburg's historic district at Schaumburg and Roselle roads. totesSenior & Teen Programs Recipients of Charity Treasure Totes
Gleaner Life Insurance Society recently held its 57th Biennial Convention at the Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center. As part of the event, they identified area organizations to receive what they call "Treasure Totes for Charity."  Members gathered together and filled large plastic totes with items on the organization's wish list. Six or seven agencies in the Schaumburg area were selected to receive these totes, including the village's Teen Center and Senior Program at the Barn. Both organizations were given a chance to talk about the benefits of their programs in the community before being given their decorated totes filled with requested items such as kitchen and hygiene products for the seniors and arts and crafts for the teens among other items.
