mosquitoes

Mosquito Control

Due to the large amount of rain that has fallen and the recent rise in temperatures, conditions are right for an increase in mosquitoes. The Village of Schaumburg is included in the Northwest Mosquito Abatement District (NWMAD) that provides mosquito control to 242 square miles of northwest Cook County. Neighborhoods are targeted where West Nile Virus has been detected and areas with high mosquito numbers. Night spraying, when scheduled, begins at sunset and concludes around midnight. To view the criteria and schedule of spraying, visit the NWMAD website.

Residents are strongly advised to inspect their property for standing water that may produce an increase in mosquitoes. Report any stagnant water areas to NWMAD by calling (847) 537-2306 and use the voicemail reporting system by dialing "3" on your phone.

For resources on West Nile Virus, including symptoms, safety tips and more, visit the Cook County's Department of Public Health website.

The Roselle Road contractor will begin building the rest of the new Roselle Road pavement north of the bridge in the next few weeks. That includes work at the east portion of the Central Road intersection. Expect to see more truck traffic through the project as excavation work increases.

Motorists are reminded to slow down in the construction zone and remain cautious of their surroundings. Be sure to visit the village's website for further information and other updates on this project.
