budgetFiscal Year 2015/16 Budget Approved at Hearing

Schaumburg's Village Board unanimously approved the proposed Fiscal Year 2015/16 budget that was presented during a budget hearing held April 21.

The budget does not include any new taxes and reduces the property tax levy by 1 percent. The budget is guided by five core areas that were determined in part from the results of the National Citizen Survey™ in which residents identified areas in the community that they thought needed the most attention. The five areas include improving village streets, reducing the tax burden, enhancing community engagement, increasing transit awareness and continuing efforts to improve process efficiencies.

View the proposed FY 15/16 Budget. The budget is anticipated to be on the Tuesday, April 28 Village Board agenda for consideration.

I-390 Tollway Updates

An eastbound frontage closure is scheduled to occur Friday, April 27 and continue through Monday, June 8 in conjunction with improvements to the I-390 project. The closure is scheduled to begin at 1 a.m. with a signed detour directing traffic to use Irving Park Road and Rodenburg Road to access the eastbound frontage road. The ramp carrying traffic from the eastbound frontage road to eastbound I-390 will remain open during construction. Traffic traveling on the eastbound frontage road and eastbound Irving Park Road will have continued access to the ramp. Westbound Irving Park Road traffic, however, will not be able access the ramp. Westbound Irving Park Road traffic can access eastbound I-390 by following the detour to Rodenburg Road and using the eastbound frontage road to access I-390 near Wright Boulevard. For additional information, visit the tollway's website.

I-90 Tollway Updates

Beams to support the new roadway are being installed on Meacham Road through next week. To perform the work, two large cranes are being set up on I-90 and will close lanes above on Meacham Road. Motorists on I-90 can expect lane closures through the week of April 27 so the cranes can move into position to lift the large beams.

Trucks carrying the steel beams are being staged north of the bridge in the area closed to traffic. From now until April 26, Meacham Road will be limited to one lane traffic in each direction across I-90 from 10 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. each morning.  There will also be closures on I-90 during those nights with full closures of the I-90 lanes for shorter periods of 15 minutes during the actual placement of the beams.

The beams will support the future Meacham Road pavement. Crews will begin preparing for the work required to install the new concrete bridge deck.

Motorists are reminded to slow down in the construction zone and remain cautious of their surroundings. Be sure to visit the village's website for further information and other updates on this project.
