OhareNoiseO'Hare Noise

The Federal Aviation Administration has required some recent temporary changes to the use of the runways at O'Hare to address a national safety problem.  This temporary change has resulted in a higher concentration of the use of the two runways which is resulting in more activity over many areas including Schaumburg.  It is anticipated that this safety issue will be resolved in 3 to 6 months, allowing O'Hare to safely utilize more runways and reduce the noise over those areas currently receiving increased noise.

Schaumburg has been a member of the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) for over 20 years and a village representative sits on the Technical Committee where items such as approaches and departures from O'Hare are discussed. As part of the O'Hare Modernization Plan, the runways are being configured in an east west direction. Winds in this area are primarily out of the west, which typically results in planes coming in over Lake Michigan for landing and taking off to the west. However, when the winds are from the east, the flow for landing and take-off changes.

Residents with concerns should visit the ONCC website and are encouraged to attend a meeting to voice personal concerns. To lodge a complaint online, use the link on the ONCC website or call 800.435.9569.
BusinessCouncilUS-ASEAN Business Council

The Village of Schaumburg hosted a delegation from the US-ASEAN Business Council on May 7 to discuss opportunities in Schaumburg and Southeast Asia.  Schaumburg was honored that Ambassadors from Brunei, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand as well as officials from Indonesia, Vietnam and the East-West Council were able to join Mayor Larson and the Schaumburg Business Association for lunch.  The group then visited Motorola to strengthen business ties.  The ASEAN Economic Community includes ten Southeast Asian countries that represent one of the largest economic markets in the world.  Almost $100 billion of US goods and services exports go to ASEAN making it the 4th largest trade partner.  Illinois exports $4 billion to ASEAN countries.
aggregationElectrical Aggregation: Saving Residents Money

Residential households and small commercial businesses enrolled in Schaumburg's Electrical Aggregation program are saving an average of $8.26 per month.  Since the inception of the program in July of 2013 residents and small businesses have saved approximately $75.00 per account.

Currently there are 22,264 residential and small business accounts enrolled in the program with First Energy Solutions.  The community savings for all accounts enrolled from July 2013 through April 2014 totals $1.6 million.
