 Golden Corridor Update
| |
 | | The students were treated to a tour of Sandvik's training center and warehouse to get a better understanding of what manufacturers do and the various jobs available. |
The Village of Schaumburg and the Village of Hoffman Estates have been working together with several local manufacturers over the past three years to address the workforce needs and issues facing manufacturing. This grass roots effort between the communities, manufacturers, high schools, Harper College, and Northern Illinois University have resulted in several open houses and internships to raise awareness about career opportunities in advanced manufacturing in the Golden Corridor.
Sandvik Coromant recently hosted students from Helen Keller Junior High School on April 29. This was an opportunity for eighth grade students to hear from a Schaumburg manufacturer on career opportunities.
