Walnut Lane
Reconstruction Project
The Walnut Lane Project is a $2.5 million dollar project to reconstruct Walnut Lane from Golf Road to Bode Road. This project is being implemented to improve the safety of the roadway, as well as address the deteriorating pavement and enhance the adjacent landscaping.
Construction will be substantially complete by November 2013, weather permitting. Visit the website to view information that will be updated regularly.

Schaumburg Road Project
The Schaumburg Road project is a Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CCDTH) project to patch and diamond grind Schaumburg Road from Roselle Road to Barrington Road.
Construction will be substantially complete by the fall of 2013. The project will be split up into three sections.The section near the high school will be done over the school's summer break.

for Week of April 29 There will be two new closures next week along the south side of Schaumburg Road. One is at Andrew Lane and the other is at Hilltop Lane. This will be implemented on Monday, April 29 and will last for approximately one week.

Overnight Parking
Parking on village streets is prohibited between the hours of 2:30am and 6am - violators will be ticketed. If you need to park your vehicle overnight, you must contact the Police Department for permission. Overnight parking is limited to five requests within a 30 day period and will not be granted when there is two inches or more of snow fall. Residents may request overnight parking by calling 3-1-1 within Schaumburg or call the Police non-emergency number at 847.882.3586.

Police Beat Meetings
Beat meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30pm in the Community Room of the Martin J. Conroy Center located at 1000 W. Schaumburg Road.  Report April 18 Storm Flood Damage Information to the Village

 The Cook County Department of Homeland Security is advising individuals, families and business owners within Cook County to report all flood damage to their local jurisdiction.
Schaumburg residents and businesses should report flood damage information to William Clark, Emergency Management Coordinator, at 847.923.6761. This information will be used by the state to apply for federal aid, so resident and business participation is crucial. Due to regional and state deadlines, all information should be provided to the village as quickly as possible.

Municipal Aggregation Implementation Update  Following the passage of the municipal electric aggregation program's plan of operations and governance, the village has now selected a retail electric supplier to provide electricity to residents and small businesses throughout Schaumburg. On April 23, the Village Board approved the selection of First Energy Solutions as the village's electric supplier for the Municipal Electric Aggregation Program. Eligible residents should receive opt-out letters between May and June. Municipal Aggregation Implementation Process: - Referendum passed on November 6
- Review of Consultant's proposals
- Plan of Operations and Governance created & Ordinance (approved at Village Board meeting)
- Two Public Hearings to discuss the Village's Plan of Operations and Governance
- Village submits Request for Proposals from Alternative Retail Electric Suppliers
- Alternative Retail Electric Supplier is chosen and contract is finalized
- Residents informed by mail of finalized rate for the supply of electricity
- Eligible residents receive Opt-Out letters from the village
- Residential and small commercial retail customer accounts switched from ComEd to the village's new electric supplier
The village's aggregation program will not affect how customers receive electricity, report outage, or pay bills. Under the aggregation program ComEd will no longer be generating electricity, but they will still distribute the electricity and continue to be responsible for billing issues and power outages. Pay Your Water Bill By Phone

 A new Pay-By-Phone option is available for water bill payments. Use a credit card to pay your water bill over the phone by dialing 1.877.690.3729. Enter Jurisdiction Code 2319 when prompted and follow the instructions.

Village Animal Licenses Discontinued on May 1

 Beginning May 1, Schaumburg residents will no longer be required to purchase an animal tag for their pets. Lost pets will be identified through microchip reading and cross-referencing of Cook County rabies vaccination records.

Brush Collection Starts in May
| |
 Schaumburg's Brush Pick-up Program runs for 24 weeks from May through October. It is not necessary to call for brush pick-up or to create a Customer Service Request, just follow the schedule listed here. It takes crews up to four days to complete the curbside brush
collection.

Schaumburg Germany Exchange: May 9 - 12

From May 9 - 12, the village will host a group of visitors from the County of Schaumburg, Germany. The visitors will stay with host families who have graciously offered to share their homes. Some of their activities will include tours of the public safety services, the Schaumburg Township District Library, St. Peter Lutheran Church and School, Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center, and a trip to Chicago.
The village is grateful to those who have supported, hosted, and offered complementary meals for these exchanges. It is with this type of community support, these guests experience the best Schaumburg has to offer.

Public Works Open House: May 21

The Schaumburg Engineering and Public Works Department is celebrating "National Public Works Week" from May 20 - 24.

 The Schaumburg Barn has teamed up with the Greater Chicago Food Depository of Cook County to start a free food market for Seniors 60+. The market begins at 1pm and ends at 2:30 and is every other Friday.

Schaumburg of My Ancestors
A book about the history of Schaumburg was recently published by longtime Schaumburg resident LaVonne Thies Presley. LaVonne dedicated Schaumburg of My Ancestors to her father William Thies, "for telling and retelling all of the family stories." The book is on sale at the Prairie Center for the Arts, the Heritage Farm, as well as at the Atcher Municipal Center for $20.
