Municipal Aggregation Implementation Update Following the passage of the municipal electric aggregation program's plan of operations and governance, the village will be seeking proposals from ICC licensed alternative retail electric suppliers to provide electricity to residents and small businesses throughout Schaumburg. The process of selecting and approving an alternative retail electric supplier should be complete by the beginning of May. After a supplier is chosen and a contract is negotiated, eligible residents and small business owners will receive opt-out letters from the new supplier informing them of the new electric supply rate. Please note the Village of Schaumburg has NOT chosen an alternative retail electric supplier and is NOT currently in negotiations with an electric supplier. The village's new electric supplier will not visit residents in person at their homes or ask for their electric bill. Municipal Aggregation Implementation Process: - Referendum passed on November 6
- Review of Consultant's proposals
- Plan of Operations and Governance created & Ordinance (approved at Village Board meeting)
- Two Public Hearings to discuss the Village's Plan of Operations and Governance
- Village submits Request for Proposals from Alternative Retail Electric Suppliers
- Alternative Retail Electric Supplier is chosen and contract is finalized
- Residents informed by mail of finalized rate for the supply of electricity
- Eligible residents receive Opt-Out letters from the village
- Residential and small commercial retail customer accounts switched from ComEd to the village's new electric supplier
The village's aggregation program will not affect how customers receive electricity, report outage, or pay bills. Under the aggregation program ComEd will no longer be generating electricity, but they will still distribute the electricity and continue to be responsible for billing issues and power outages. For more information, please contact Jessica DeMory in the Manager's office at 847.923.4702. View the Frequently Asked Questions on the website. |

Seeking Purchase Award Patrons
|
Become a Purchase Award patron for the Prairie Arts Festival either personally or through a business. Patrons who pledge to spend at least $100 with one artist will have a chance to acknowledge their support with a Purchase Award and take home their art. By committing to a Purchase Award, patrons are pledging, in advance of the event, to make a purchase at the Prairie Arts Festival. As a Purchase Award participant, an acknowledgment will be made in the Prairie Arts Festival program, and an award ribbon and sign indicating the purchaser's name, or their business' name, will be prominently displayed at the artist's display area for the duration of the festival. In addition, the artwork purchased is, of course, the patron's property.
Another opportunity available is to place an advertisement in this year's program book; it's an excellent way of advertising your business and supporting the community. For additional information, click here.
Visit the website or contact the Schaumburg Special Events Coordinator or 847.923.3605. |
