Salon Robbery Pattern
Over the past several weeks there have been many armed robberies of beauty and hair salons in northern Cook and DuPage Counties. These robberies appear to have been committed by the same offender.
While none have taken place in Schaumburg, it was important to notify our businesses and provide tips to prevent a robbery and how to respond should one occur.
The offender has been described as a male/white between 30-35 years old and approximately 5'09"-6'00" tall. He has had a few days growth of facial hair, has worn sun glasses, and has displayed a handgun.
Prevention
- Maintain a clear view to the parking lot and store entrance
- Remain vigilant for suspicious persons
- Call 9-1-1 immediately to report a suspicious person
- Form a Business Watch Group
In the event of a robbery
- Remain calm
- Cooperate with the offender
- Don't argue with or antagonize the offender
- Do NOT try to be a hero
- Be a good witness - Remember, offenders description and car if possible
In an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
