What To See & Do
PARK AND RECREATION BOARD and Other local EVENTS
FISH FRY Support the Brighton Township Volunteer Fire Department by attending a fish fry at the Brighton Township Fireman's Social Hall on Dutch Ridge Road from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on August 15 and September 5 & 19. Price is $9 for adults and $8 for children. There is not a fish fry in July.


FARMERS' MARKET
Held in the Beaver Courthouse parking lot every Saturday now thru December from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

THRU JULY 25 Brighton Township and the Beaver Area School District  have contracted with the YMCA to conduct a Summer Playground Program at the Dutch Ridge Elementary School.  The 6-week program is for students in K - 5th grade and is operated from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. YMCA trained staff supervise the program and provide needed resources, including games, crafts, sports and special events. All YMCA staff members are trained in CPR and First Aid.  There is no registration fee.

AUGUST 9 The Beaver Area Cross County Boosters is holding their annual "Howl At the Moon 5K Race" fundraiser at 8:30 p.m. The race begins at the High School track.

AUGUST 15-17 The Beaver County River Regatta will be held in Bridgewater.  Enjoy family-friendly events such as Children's Fishing Derby, Ducky Derby Race, Anything That Floats Race, Extreme Drag Boat Racing, Water-Ski Shows, Light-Up Boat Parade, Zambelli Fireworks and more.  There is also a wing eating contest, tons of food vendors and live entertainment by some of the region's top musicians.  It's a weekend of food and fun for the entire family -- don't miss it! 

SEPTEMBER 20 The Township's annual tire collection program conducted in cooperation with the Independence Conservancy will be held Saturday, September 20th from 9 a.m. to noon at the public works site at 1250 Brighton Road. There is a small fee for disposal. Cash or check (with proper ID). Additional donations to Independence Conservancy are welcomed!

SEPTEMBER 24-28
Beaver hosts the Vietnam Veterans Memorial "The Wall that Heals".  This is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.  The opening ceremony will be on September 24th at 7 p.m. The wall will be displayed from September 24th thru the 28th.  There will be various displays including vintage military vehicles during the week.  The event will culminate with a memorial "Ride to the Wall", allowing hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts to replicate the ride to the wall held in Washington, D.C. each year to honor the fallen troops who served their country during Vietnam.  For more information and further updates, visit www.vva862.org.

JULY 3 Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra returns to Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.  Featuring Monica Mancini with music from the Henry Mancini Musical Library and a Patriotic Tribute. Performance begins at 8 p.m.

JULY 6 Beaver County Wind Ensemble in Irvine Park Gazebo at 7 p.m. sponsored by Beaver Area Heritage Foundation. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. All are welcome to this free event.

JULY 11-12, 17-19 This show is presented by The Bobcat Players at 7:30 p.m. in the Ed Schaughency Theater at Beaver High School. Be My Baby takes one irascible Scotsman and one stuffy Englishwoman and sends them on a journey "across the pond" to adopt a newborn baby for their younger relatives. What ensures is a trip laced with mishaps and misfortunes. The unlikely couple meets a rogue's gallery of Americans as they face obstacle after obstacle in their adoption process. In the end, they discover the magic of Elvis, pizzas, Rob Roys, and one tiny infant who can -- and does -- change their world.
SEPTEMBER 12, 13, 18, 19, 20 Beaver Bobcat Players presents Born Yesterday, a classic comedy by Garson Canin at the Ed Schaughency Theater in the Beaver Area High School. Against the landscape of Washington, D.C. in the 1940s, ruthless junk yard millionaire Harry Brock arrives with his showgirl mistress Billie Dawn.  Because Billie is poor fit for the sophisticated capital crowd, Brock hires a young journalist to transform her into a lady of culture and breeding.  But the transformation turns out to be more than Brock has bargained for. Billie discovers an inner core of strength and self worth that allows her to finally break free of Brock's tyranny.  All performances are at 8 p.m.
