Like all insurance, you hope you never need any of these, but if you do need it, you are so dang glad you have it! There are three kinds of insurance that every pet owner should consider.
1. Pet Health Insurance. Just like human health insurance, pet insurance can save you a lot of money if your pet has a serious illness or injury. It often covers all or part of the cost of routine checkups and medications, too, which can help you spread those costs more evenly over the calendar year. Here's the link to an independent review of the Top 10 Pet Insurance Policies.
2. Pet Liability Insurance. Your homeowner's or renter's insurance policy may cover you in the event your dog injures someone. But some policies don't cover dog bites at all, and others severely limit the coverage, leaving pet owners potentially liable for large sums of cash, should their dog cause someone harm. Liability coverage for pets can be complicated and before you buy additional coverage, you should definitely understand the types of coverage available so you make an informed decision. Here's the link to a site that explains what's available and what to look for in the area of pet liability insurance coverage.
3. Service Provider Insurance. Any time you invite a service provider into your home, whether it's a cable guy, a maid service, or a pet sitter, you accept some responsibility for that person's safety. Your homeowner's insurance may cover the expenses if that person is injured on your property, but as we explained above, that coverage may be insufficient if an injury occurs. If the service provider is covered by Worker's Compensation Insurance, your liability is greatly reduced. Please watch this short video to learn why we believe you should insist on providers who carry Worker's Comp.

Bewaggle is HIRING! |
We need some great pet sitters who live in Seminole County, specifically in the cities of Lake Mary, Heathrow, Longwood, Altamonte Springs and Winter Springs. The ideal candidate will:
- Be a true animal lover, first and foremost!
- Have at least 10 years work experience. Not necessarily in the animal care industry, but we need people with a proven track record of excellence and professionalism.
- Have complete control over their own schedule. We can't work around school and work schedules, as our clients' needs have to come first. This could be a great fit for retirees and the self-employed!
- Have basic computer skills and a functional home computer and printer. (A smart phone is not a requirement, but it's a huge advantage.)
If you or someone you know would like to get paid to play with pets, all the information and the application are available on our website. Click here to learn more.

Preventing Holiday Pet Emergencies |
The holidays are a time for fun and family and fabulous food, but all too often, pets get into the goodies and their owners spend their holiday at an emergency vet clinic instead of home with their family and friends.
Follow these simple tips to help assure that your holidays are healthy and fun for you and your pets.
1. Keep pets away from the goodies. So many of the traditional holiday treats can be deadly to pets, so please keep your pets out of the kitchen, especially while you're busy in other rooms with your guests.
2. Have the Pet Poison Hotline number posted on the refrigerator or stored in your cell phone. 800-213-6680
3. Be familiar with the common foods that are most toxic to your pets. We provide an excellent overview in our blog post, "Toxins in Your Kitchen".
4. Plan ahead to assure your pets get the care and attention they will need to be safe and healthy during your celebrations. They count on you to keep them safe.

Our "Sunday Funnies" |
One of the most popular features we've ever placed on our Facebook page is a Photo Album we call our "Sunday Funnies". Every week, we search the Internet for funny photos of animals, and we add the best ones to the "Sunday Funnies" album on Sunday morning. We hope you'll enjoy these as much as we do, and that while you're there, you'll LIKE our page. If these don't make you smile, your smiler must be broken.
