Director: Jeremy Seifert - Cast: Chavannes Jean-Baptiste, Ken Roseboro, Michael Adam, Sammy Junior, III, James Burkholder

The documentary explores the systematic corporate takeover and potential loss of humanity's most precious and ancient inheritance: seeds. Director Jeremy Seifert investigates how loss of seed diversity and corresponding laboratory assisted genetic alteration of food affects his young children, the health of our planet, and freedom of choice everywhere. GMO OMG follows one family's struggle to live and eat without participating in an unhealthy, unjust, and destructive food system. In GMO OMG, the encroaching darkness of unknown health and environmental risks, chemical toxins, and food monopoly meets with the light of a growing global movement to take back what we have lost. Has the global food system been irrevocably hijacked?

Movie:  Jiro Dreams of Sushi - December 23, 2013
PBS Hawaii (Independent Lens) at 10:00 p.m.

"Jiro Dreams of Sushi" is a thoughtful and elegant meditation on work, family, and the art of perfection by filmmaker David Gelb.  Gelb introduces us to 85-year old Jiro Ono, considered the world's greatest sushi chef. Sukiyabashi Jiro, his 10-seat restaurant inauspiciously located in a Tokyo subway station, is the dirst restaurant of its kind to be awarded a prestigious three-star Michelin Guide rating, and sushi lovers from around the globe make repeated pilgrimages.

If you missed this film in the theater, now is the time to watch this stunning reflection on the true meaning of slow food  (and it's free on television).
