Awards Day
Our Senior High School Awards Day for the 2015-16 school year will be in the North Florida Baptist Church Auditorium on Wednesday morning, May 11th  at 9:30 a.m.  The middle school program will start at 10:45 a.m.

We will announce the Valedictorian and the Salutatorian along with the Top Ten of the senior class, each of which who will receive a trophy.   

Students in grades 6-11 will also be recognized during the program for their placement in the Top Ten of their grade level.  
Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment for this year's tenth and eleventh grade students opens Monday, April 18th.  
  1. You need a signed permission form from the Guidance Office.
  2. If you are new to Dual Enrollment, you will need to register for Dual Enrollment by going to the TCC website and setting up an account by entering you email address and then inputting a password.   Please bring your new TCC Student ID to school when you fill out the permission form.  
  3. Go to: https://eaglenet1.tcc.fl.edu/registration/coursesearch.jsp to find the TCC Class Schedule for next Fall. Please bring the course reference number and the course number with you to sign up for the schedule needed for the Fall.
  4. To take Dual Enrollment the student is required to have both a GPA of an unweighted 3.0 along with minimum scores of the following-                         
  5. SAT : Verbal   440    Math 440             
  6.  ACT:   Reading: 19 and English 17                   Math: 19-20
Students may use the FPERT if they do not have the required scores from the above areas. The FPERT may be taken at the TCC Testing Center for free the first time. A retest may be taken after a two week wait.

Eagle Sports
Baseball  
Congratulations to the Eagle Baseball team on finishing the season 19-8 and advancing to the 3A North Region Finals.  The Eagles lost 1-0 in an exciting game that went 8 innings.  
 
Softball 
Congratulations to the Lady Eagle Softball team on a great season and advancing to the 3A North Regional Finals, losing 6-3 to University Christian.


Track and Field
Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Track team for finishing 4th overall at Regionals in Jacksonville.  

Seniors TJ Ashley and LJ Holmes both qualified for the State Track.
TJ Ashley finished 1st in both the 200 meter dash (22.28) and 400 meter dash (50.19).
LJ Holmes finished 1st in both the 110 meter hurdles (14.61) and 300 meter hurdles (39.36)

At the State Track Meet LJ Holmes finished in first place in the 100 meter hurdles and second place in the 300 meter hurdles.   
Leadership Tallahassee
Laiken Kinsey and Khalil Younge have been chosen from all applicants from the tenth grade to be a part of Youth Leadership Tallahassee for the coming school year. Leadership Tallahassee students serve during their junior year of high school.

Each year two or three students are selected from each school to be a part of a very special group of young people who meet monthly to learn all about the city and county. They also
learn about leadership and work with the Tallahassee Chamber. They work toward a personal vision and lifelong commitment to leadership and community service.

Summer Poetry to Last a Lifetime
The Knott House will be holding its annual summer poetry workshop. This creative workshop will help young people refine writing skills, read and evaluate poetry written by famous poets and their workshop peers, and find their own voice as a poet. Participants will end the experience by sharing their poems with family and friends during an evening program that includes a reading by a well-known local poet.  

Session 1:  Grades 9 to 12
 July 11-15, 2016; 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Session 2:  Grades 6 to 8
July 18-22, 2016; 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
 
$50 for Museum of Florida History members; $70 for nonmembers

This will count as Summer Reading for students who particiapte in this workshop.  For more information, please see Mrs. Burgess.

AP Exams
The AP US Government and Politics exam is on Tuesday morning, May 10th at 8:00a.m. The
AP Macroeconomics is on Wednesday afternoon, May 11th at 12:30 Noon.
All students must be on time. The days and times are locked. Each exam will take
approximately four hours.

The elementary classes are excited to share the books they have written and published. Please contact your child's teacher for the times they will be presenting their books.

Exemptions
Exam Exemptions will be available on Monday, May 16th for students. Exam Exemptions will be due into the Gym Office by Wednesday Noon, May 18th. All online classes need to be completed by Friday, May 20th in order for students to be able to exempt an exam. Semester exams will start on Monday afternoon, May 23rd with the 7th period exam.

Jr. Fine Arts Competition
May 12th and 13th 
27 works of art and several students singing and playing musical instruments will be representing NFC at the State Jr. Fine Arts Competition. The results will be posted on our facebook page when they become available.   
Snow Cones

The girl's basketball team is selling snow cones in the middle school on Thursday afternoons and on the elementary playground on Friday afternoons. They are $2 and help with expenses for the team. 

Lost and Found
The Lost and Found Bin is filling up with jackets, sweaters, books, lunch boxes and much more! Please encourage your child to check the bin for their lost belongings. Anything left at the end of the school year will be donated.
