Voice of Democracy
We are proud to announce that sophomore Laiken Kinsey won this year's Leon County Voice of Democracy essay contest sponsored by the VFW. She was presented with the award and scholarship on December 11th when she read her essay, "My Vision for America" at the VFW Post Christmas party.
Laiken also won at the district level and will be competing at the state competition in Orlando. 
Christmas Store
December 14-18 we will have our annual Christmas Store. All donations have been donated by Publix and all the proceeds will go toward buying and repairing books for the Elementary Library. All items are priced $1-$5. There will be stuffed animals, toys, candles, wrapping paper and more. If you would like to volunteer to help at our Christmas Store, please contact Debbie Cronin at 386-6327 ext. 153.  
Tenth Grade Students
Youth Leadership Tallahassee applications will be posted online at www.leadershiptallahassee.com by Monday, December 14! This is a wonderful opportunity for sophomores to apply and go through the interview process. The applications will be due on Friday,    February. 12th. Students selected will serve with YLT during the 2016-17 school year.
Bright Futures Scholarship
Seniors are now able to register and begin the application process.  Students can register at: www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org                                    To view the current information go to: http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ssfad/bf/   At the top left you will be able to click on "What's New" to see the changes to the program for this year. If you need additional information, please contact the high school office.
Girls State
This is a wonderful opportunity for a Junior girl who has an interest in politics or government. Please see the junior teachers for information. We have copies of the application as well in the office. The deadline for submission is February 1, 2016.Tallahassee Unit 13 also requires participation in the Americanism Essay Contest. The essay should not to exceed 500 words on the topic and must be submitted with the Application/Permission form by the February 1stdeadline. The essay topic is: "How Can I Encourage My Friends to Show Pride in Being an American."

Florida State University
released their first Admissions Decisions this past week.  Below are the admission requirements used for those accepted for early admissions. 18,650 decisions were released to include accepts, summer offers, holds, and denials
FALL
GPA - 3-9 - 4.4
SAT: 1790 - 1980
ACT: 27 - 31
SUMMER                                                                                  
GPA - 3.7-4.3
SAT -1740-1910
ACT - 26-29
* All accepted students for general admission had to meet the minimum sub score requirement for either ACT or SAT If you want to apply to FSU and did not on the first round, the final round will be coming up in about one month. All documents must be submitted by January 15th.  Those decisions will be announced in March. 
TALLAHASSEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE 
The TCC Scholarship Fair will take place on January 21, 2016 in the Fine & Performing Arts Center from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm.
The TCC Fall 2016 Scholarship Application for high school students will be available beginning December 1, 2015 and the deadline will be Feb. 20, 2016. Students will be able to access the on-line application at www.tcc.fl.edu/scholarships
Mrs. Bennett with TCC will be here the morning of January 20th to speak with seniors who intend to go to TCC.  
College Boards
SAT 
There is only one more testing opportunity with the existing format. The test date is January 23rd. The last day to register is December 28th.
The March 5th SAT will be under the new format. The deadline to register is February 5th.
ACT  
There are three more opportunities to take the ACT for this school year.
February 6th - Register by January 8th
April 9th - Register by March 4th
June 11th - Register by May 6th
PSAT Scores
January. 7th - Students will be able to access their scores and AP Potential information at studentscores.collegeboard.org.
By January 29 -NFCS will receive paper score reports.
Eagle Sports
Track
Congratulations to senior Leonard "LJ" Holmes, Jr.  who recently signed a National Letter of Intent to participate in Track at Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina.  LJ was a state finalist in 2015 in both the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles.

Basketball
 
Come out and support the Eagle basketball teams this coming week.  The boys and girls team will be in action at NFC on Tuesday, December 15th. 
JV is at 4:30, Girls Varsity at 5:30 and Boys Varsity at 7:00

Softball 
softball There will be a softball  parent meeting on Monday, December 14 at 6:00 PM in the gym.   If your daughter is interested in playing softball this year but missed the sign up please attend this meeting.   We look forward to seeing everyone Monday night.  If you have questions please contact Dennis Gorham dennisgorham@nflchurch.com

The NFC Online Store will be open for ordering during the week of January 4th thru January 10th. 
You can place orders through midnight on Sunday night. (January 10th) All orders will be delivered to the Middle School/High School Office within 6 business days.

PRESCHOOL ELEMENTARY PARTIES
On December 18th, preschool and elementary classes will have their Christmas parties. If you wish to sign out your child, their teacher can accommodate you. Please have your NFCS ID card available.

EARLY RELEASE DAYS 
Early release days will be on Tuesday through Friday, December 15-18, at 12:05 p.m. each day. Our After School Program will be available on each of these early release days.
There are no classes on Friday for Middle School and High School students 

ON-LINE CLASSES 
All On-Line Courses must be finished by 
Christmas Break. If you are doing FLVS classes, the first segment must be 100% completed by Christmas Break. If you are doing Ignitia classes, you are required to have at least half (50%) of the course completed in order to receive a Semester Grade. Otherwise an "F" will be recorded for report card and  transcript purposes.
