Harvest Fest and Silent Auction
Thank you to everyone who participated in the annual Harvest Fest and Silent Auction.  We could not have done it without all the donations, volunteers and all the people who came out Friday night and participated in all the activities. We appreciate all you did to help support our school!

If you had a winning bid in the Silent Auction, please come by the elementary office to pick up your items.

 

Young Readers Week
The week of November 9th-13th we celebrate Young Reader's Week. We place an importance on reading because we see results on a daily basis.

Our students will have DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) moments throughout the week. Through the PA, the office will announce times that everyone including teachers and administration, will stop what they are doing, pick up a book and read. On Friday, we will celebrate reading with a pajama party. Mrs. Wynn and Mrs. Kilgore have agreed to take the Principals Challenge and may be seen throughout the day reading.
Little Eagle Basketball
Little Eagles Basketball is coming this November!!!
 Available for girls and boys in grades 1st-5th.
Dates: November 14, 21, 30 and December 5, 12, 19
Cost: $50-Includes a team jersey, instructional clinics and two half-time showcases where players will play a game at half-time of a varsity or junior varsity game.

Blankets for Babies
The Jr. Civitan Club is wrapping up their first community service project of the year, Blankets for Babies. They have been collecting new baby blankets to distribute to several area agencies that help moms in need such as A Woman's Pregnancy Center and Refuge House. They are close to their goal of collecting 100 blankets. If you would like to help them reach their goal, blankets can be dropped off in any of our school offices.
College Boards
The SAT will change formats beginning with the March testing administration. There are only three more SAT administrations under the old format.   For more information go to: sat.org

Eagle Sports
Cross Country
Congratulations to senior Chase Savary.  He earned a top 10 finish at the 1A- North Regional Cross Country Meet on October 31 and earned a spot in the 1A State Final. Chase competed with 115 1A runners from across Florida this past weekend at the FHSAA State Finals in Tallahassee. 


Football

The Eagle football team will begin Regional playoffs on Friday, November 13th at 7:30 p.m.  NFC will host Cedar Creek Christian from Jacksonville. Admission to the game will be $8 per person. Season tickets do not apply for playoff games.

Basketball
 
The boy's team will be playing next week in preseason action at Marianna on Monday at 8:00 ET and Thursday night at 6:30 ET.
Talquin Youth Tour
Every year, Talquin Electric Cooperative sponsors outstanding students in our service area) to participate in a two day statewide conference called the Talquin Youth Tour. These students qualify by submitting an essay and the attached application which is also available at www.talquinelectric.com or any Talquin Member Service Office.  Students are selected based on community involvement, academic achievement, public speaking, and proven leadership skills.

 
The Youth Tour will be held February 24-25, 2016.  While in Tallahassee, students will visit Florida's Capitol, the House of Representatives' Chambers and will attend a mock session in the Supreme Court. 
Students must currently be enrolled as a junior in a local high school or home school.
  • Students must have a close relative who is a Talquin Member through business or residence.
  • Students must currently live in Gadsden, Leon, Liberty or Wakulla County.
  • Applications must be turned in by December 10, 2015.
During this conference, four students will be chosen to represent Talquin in Washington, D.C. for the National Rural Electric Youth Tour, June 11-16, 2016. All expenses for this trip, including air fare, are paid by Talquin.

Vadosta State University
Hilary Waits with Valdosta State University  is hosting a Valdosta State Experience on Tuesday, November 10th at Killearn Country Club.  There will be representatives from all of the major departments and coaches present for this event. Students and families are invited to attend and to speak directly with those who want to learn more.  Valdosta State charges Florida students instate tuition. There are also many scholarship opportunities available.
 
Off Campus Lunch
We will have our Honor Roll Lunch Trips to the Governors Square Mall this week on Thursday and Friday.  The high school will go on Thursday, the 12th and the middle school will go on Friday the 13th.
Operation Christmas Child
 
 Operation Christmas Child is in full swing. SGA has set the goal of having one box donated for each student in middle school and high school. The homeroom who has the highest percentage of students to participate with the beginning mark being 100% will be treated to a donut party for their participation.

Legacy Wall is an ongoing project and phase one of the new NFC Athletic Center. Legacy Wall allows students, families, and alumni to leave a lasting legacy with a personalized brick that will remain for generations to come.
