
This week we kicked off our annual World's Finest Chocolate candy sale. These chocolates are easy to sell and a favorite here in Tallahassee. We even have drivers stop by the offices to buy them when they see it's that time! The sale lasts until the 20th so be sure to get your candy today!
The candy will sell for $2.00 a box. The wrapper on each box is good for one FREE Chick-Fil-A sandwich with the purchase of a Chick-Fil-A sandwich. That's a great deal!!

Important Meeting for Parents with Students Going into Ninth Grade

Now is the time to start planning for your student's senior high school future! Rising 9th Grade Parent Night will be Monday, February 9th at 6:30p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of North Florida Baptist Church for all current eighth grade families. We will discuss important information concerning your student's future plans. Making plans and decisions about your child's future is important. Many things have changed over the years in what is expected to on to college. We want to be of help and encourage you to take an active and supportive role in this challenging process. FAMU Announces Annual Spring Preview

Florida A&M University will host its Annual Spring Preview on Saturday, February 21, 2015, from 8:30am - 2:30pm. This event for prospective high school students and community college transfer students will be hosted by the Division of Student Affairs. There is no cost to attend this program and reservations for groups, families or individuals may be made online by clicking the following link; https://secure.visualzen.com/vzevents/famu/.

TCC Hosts FAFSA Day |
Tallahassee Community College will host FAFSA Day on Monday, February 23, and Tuesday, February 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. This event is open to TCC students and all members of the community to assist them with their 2015-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.
Additionally, College Goal Sunday will take place Saturday, February 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lower level of the TCC Capitol Center. This nationwide program is designed to help current and future students complete the 2015-16 FAFSA.
Those who attend College Goal Saturday will be entered into a scholarship drawing.

Basketball
The Girls Basketball defeated North Bay Charter 55-44 to advance to the Sweet 16 3A regional semi final game. They will play Maclay next week.
The Boys varsity basketball team plays at John Paul II Friday 7 pm in the district semi finals.
Melvin Ray was recognized as a senior on the basketball team on January 30th.

Bright Futures Scholarship Website Open for Seniors

Seniors are now able to register and begin the application process which just opened up recently on December 1, 2014. You can register at: www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org. An email with directions has previously been sent to all senior parents. If you did not receive the information, please contact the high school office to get a copy. Additional information is available at the Department of Education website. To view the current information go to: http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ssfad/bf/. At the top left you will be able to click on "What's New" to see the changes to the program for this year. The brochure for the current graduation class is available in the center of the page. There is information that will be useful for students from middle school through senior high on the site. If you need additional information, please contact the high school office.

4th Grade Visit to the Capitols
|
Our fourth graders are looking forward to their upcoming visit to Florida's Capitols. The students will be given a tour of the cabinet meeting rooms, the Florida legislature, and the beautiful view of our city from the top of the Capitol building. The students will also enjoy a tour of the Old Capitol. The students will take part in a mock legislative session on the House floor. It is a hands on way of getting to know this wonderful state!

Sweetheart Court

Congratulations to seniors Grayson Revell and Jade Shiver who were crowned Sweetheart King and Queen at half-time of last Friday night's varsity basketball game. The crowning capped off a week of excitement and fun for the middle school and high school and also coincided with Senior night for Melvin Ray of our varsity basketball team. Congratulations to all who were on court!

National Elementary Honor Society

On Wednesday, February 11th, we will induct our new members into the National Elementary Honor Society. Inductees must submit an application and are chosen based on academic accomplishments and leadership qualities. The ceremony will be at 8:30 in the church auditorium.

Congratulations to Breyonne Smith, our 5th grade representative in the Tropicana Speech contest in Leon County! Breyonne received first place in our school competition and moved on to the Leon County contest on Saturday, January 31st on the campus of Florida A&M University. We are proud of you, Breyonne!

Thank you for all the box tops you turned in before Christmas. We received a check for $1203.10! So far we have been able to purchase new musical instruments, outdoor equipment as well as science equipment. We'd like to thank all our parent volunteers who come in on Tuesdays to count Box Tops.
