Reveille Coed Softball Season Begins on June 4
For those of you looking for summer fun, some exercise or an opportunity to have fellowship with other Reveille members, please join our coed softball team. The team is open to all members and frequent visitors who are 18 and older. We play on Tuesday evenings at Byrd Middle School or Moody Middle School at 6:30 pm or 8:15 pm. Our games are always finished by 10:00 pm.
We play in a slow-pitch league with 10 people on the field. There must be an even split of five men and five women on the field. New players are always welcome to join us, and we would love to have college students who are home for the summer. No skills are necessary, but it is helpful to have your own glove. The most important requirement is the desire to have fun and meet some other Reveille members. If you are interested in playing, please contact Martha Hodges by e-mail, martha.b.hodges@verizon.net, or call the church office, 359-6041, ext. 115,
Whether you want to play or cheer on our team, please watch for the game schedule in a later issue of The Reveille Window.

"4 Cans 4 Conference"
For the fifth year, each clergy and lay member of Annual Conference is encouraged to bring '4 Cans 4 Conference,' canned goods or boxed dry foods to benefit local area food banks. This year, the food will go to the Peninsula Food Bank.
Requested are: one can of vegetables or fruit, one can of meat or fish, one can of soup or stew and one can with a pop-top. In addition, there is a need for cereal, boxed/packaged mixes (Hamburger Helper, pancakes, soup, etc.), rice, instant potatoes, powdered drinks, peanut butter and jelly.
The goal this year is to collect more than five tons (one ton for each year the collection has existed). Over the last four years, about 9,000 to 9,500 pounds of food have been contributed each year.
Let's be a part of the connectional church by helping to meet this goal. Everyone can participate. Whether you bring 1 can of food or 100 cans, every can makes a difference in the lives of the hungry. Please bring your canned food donations to the Welcome Center by Sunday, June 16 and place it in the designated containers. If you have any questions, please contact Lori Epps, Director of Children's Ministries, at children@reveilleumc.org or 359-6041, ext. 117.

10 Things You May Not Know About CARITAS
In preparation for our week of hosting Adult Men July 20-27, here are 10 things you may not know about this program:
- CARITAS stands for Congregations Around Richmond Involved to Assure Shelter.
- CARITAS is now comprised of four main programs: Shelter, the Furniture Bank, CARITAS Works, and The Healing Place.
- CARITAS Shelter is the largest emergency shelter in Central Virginia, sheltering 3600 single adults and about 800 families in Richmond last year.
- Most guests at CARITAS work, and are required to save 75% of their income in an escrow account.
- Every guest at CARITAS is assigned a case manager to help them overcome the obstacles standing between themselves and self-sufficiency.
- No other emergency shelter in Central Virginia can accept families with fathers, families with more than three children, or families with adolescent males.
- The CARITAS furniture bank is the only furniture bank in central Virginia.
- The furniture bank keeps over 180 tons of materials out of the landfill each year.
- CARITAS Works is a five-week, 8-hour-a-day job and life skills development program for motivated individuals who have barriers to employment, and includes job and life skills training and job placement.
- The Healing Place of Richmond is a free, 18-month recovery shelter for addicted men that opened on March 2, 2005 and has graduated more than 600 men.

We need folks who would be willing to shop for groceries, prepare food for a meal or serve one of the meals. If you are part of a group that would like to take ownership of a meal, that is even better! If you would like to help, please contact Kay Craven at cravendk@aol.com or call 359-6041, ext. 111.
