Celebrating God's CreationTop

On United Methodist calendars, this Sunday, April 21, 2013, is designated as the "Festival of God's Creation." Accordingly, the glory of creation and our responsibility to care for it will be the twin themes of our worship here at Reveille. We will look carefully at what our faith tells us about the beauty of our world and about the blessed order that underlies all that we can see. We will reflect upon what it means to understand ourselves as having a special role within the created order; for indeed, we are called to be stewards of all that God has blessed us with. Our worship will be designed to uplift and encourage this sometimes neglected aspect of our discipleship. All are encouraged to be a part of this celebration.

- Jim Noland

Hot Meal - Thursday, April 25

Please sign up this week to prepare a potato casserole or Friends of the Homeless help serve our monthly hot meal for Friends of the Homeless. As one of Reveille's ongoing outreach ministries, it is a wonderful opportunity for service to the needy in our area.  Each month we need 12 casseroles and six servers.  A sign-up sheet, along with the casserole recipe and instructions for delivery are located at the Welcome Center. Servers are needed from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. For child care while serving the meal,
email Lori Epps one week prior or call her at 359-6041, ext. 117.  For more information or to volunteer to help, please contact Mary Jane Walls.

BAGGED LUNCHES - Sunday, April 28

If you are called to help out with the Friends of the Homeless bagged lunch ministry, there are a couple ways to help:

  • Sign up to donate needed food and supplies here. The coordinator is Wright, and the password is FOH. If you do not use the Internet, you may call the church office, 359-6041, ext. 114.
  • Help to make sandwiches and pack the bagged lunches on Sunday, April 28 at 10:30 am in the welcome center.

Before the service, please join us for our fellowship meal. The menu will be chicken pot pie, white rice, tossed salad, rolls, cookies, and brownies. The cost for the meal is $5 for adults and teens, $3 for children ages 4 to 12, and free for anyone under 4. We are putting together a Children's Ministry Council and would love for anyone in the congregation who is interested in helping out to join us. Our second meeting will take place on Sunday, April 28, in the Reveille House dining room following the 11:00 am worship service. We will provide a light lunch. RSVP to Lori Epps here

Thank You to Everyone Who Participated in CARITAS

Last week, Reveille hosted 24 men, women, and children from CARITAS (Congregations Around Richmond Involved To Assure Shelter), providing three  meals a day, evening activities, overnight support, and most of all, the sharing of Christ's love to these special families. We would like to thank all the groups and individuals who contributed to the success of this ministry, including the Logos class, who provided the beautiful table decorations each night, the Sunday school classes who prepared and served the evening meals, Mr. Andrew's Hair Salon that donated free haircuts and shaves to our guests, and our CARITAS champions, Gretchen Biernot and Tim Black.

Our next host week will be July 20-27, in which we will welcome up to 40 single adult women into our church. If you are interested in being part of the leadership of this host week, email Gretchen Biernot. Look for more information in the following weeks about the specific ways you can become involved in this special ministry in our Summer of Service.
