Journey to Jerusalem

Put on your hiking shoes and get ready for five weeks of exploration. We will journey towards Jerusalem and walk in Jesus' footsteps. Come join us on Wednesday nights during Lent. We will meet in the fellowship hall beginning at 6:45 pm and go until 7:30 pm. This opportunity is open to Pre-K through 5th grade children. To participate, please email Lori Epps, Director of Children's Ministries, or call her at 359-6041, ext. 117.

Ultimate Lenten Experience

Walk with Christ during the last week of His life on earth. Be a part of those who sang "Hosanna." Get to know the disciples who loved Him but left Him. What went Mission Benefit Concert on in the temple that upset Christ so? How did Mary feel? How could one of Christ's best friends have betrayed him and set Him up for death? What did Christ say to God in Gethsemane? This and so much more is explored in Andrew Lloyd Weber's Jesus Christ Superstar.

You have the opportunity to be on the inside of one of the most life-altering events in the history of the world; don't let it pass. Be a part of the chorus (the crowd), a major player in this, our heritage as Christians.

Rehearsals are Sundays, 5:00-5:30 pm or 6:30-7:00 pm in the choir room. Email Cathy Armistead or call 359-6041. Make this part of your Lenten journey.

February Friends of the Homeless Hot Meal

Friends of the Homeless It's that time again - time to prepare for the 4th Thursday of the month. On Thursday, February 28, Reveille members will serve a hot meal of roasted chicken, cheesy potato casserole, green beans and dessert to some of Richmond's homeless population. There are several ways you can help:

  • Prepare a potato casserole. The recipe, with drop-off instructions, can be picked up from the sign-up board in the welcome center.
  • Be a server (we need six) at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Meet us at Reveille at 11:00 am and carpool or meet us at the site. For child care while serving the meal, email Lori Epps one week prior or call her at 359-6041, ext. 117.
  • NEW THIS MONTH: Eat and fellowship with those we serve on February 28. If you are interested, please contact Kay Craven or sign up on the board in the welcome center.
  • Donate some of the following items: Gallon-size plastic bags, plastic Tupperware-like containers (used containers are fine) and 55-gallon trash bags. A collection area for these items is by the elevator in the alcove near the staircase off the red carpet.

Please look for the sign-up sheet in the new welcome center area. For more information email Kay Craven.

Vacation Bible School

"Everywhere Fun Fair, Where God's World Comes Together"

Join us for this kid-friendly global fair, where your children will experience the love of Jesus, meet welcoming neighbors from the Bible, and explore the everyday life of neighbors from Japan, Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Mexico. Kids will learn that God's love welcomes everyone, as they understand how to love and serve God and be a neighbor to the world. Reveille UMC will offer Vacation Bible School to 4-year olds through 2nd grade. Look for more information regarding online registration soon. If you would like more information or would like to volunteer to help serve in any capacity during VBS Week, July 29th - August 2nd, from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon, please email Jennifer Rosen.

Day Camp

This camp takes place during VBS week, July 29th - August 2nd, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon, for current 3rd - 5th graders. This is a week filled with adventure, outreach, and hands-on learning activities. We take field trips to various outreach sites and engage in outreach that helps our community and beyond. There is even a rumor of an overnight stay on Thursday for our campers. Save the date, and if you would like to help serve with our children, please let Ellie Speer or Lori Epps, Director of Children's Ministries, know.

The Parent Link

The Parent Link is our new children's ministry newsletter that will be coming out monthly. The first part of the newsletter has information provided by Group Publishing that touches on a monthly theme, gives suggestions on how to spend more quality time together as a family, as well as shares music and movie reviews and culture trends. I am providing a monthly calendar of events and opportunities to further engage in quality time through meaningful conversation starters and prayer focuses. Also included will be highlights of Reveille's upcoming events in more detail as related to children. I hope that you will click on this month's link for our newsletter and share it with those who would benefit from it. If you would like to sign up to receive our monthly children's newsletter via email, please contact me.

Helping Hands Children's Outreach Opportunity

This Virginia Conference-sponsored children's outreach opportunity will take place on Thursday, July 18th and Friday, July 19th. Our home base will be Woodlake UMC in Midlothian, Virginia. We will spend two days in mission throughout the Richmond and surrounding areas. This two-day opportunity engages children in rising 3rd - rising 6th grade in hands-on outreach such as working in a food pantry, serving lunch to firefighters, picking up trash with the Adopt-A-Highway program, making journals for veterans, preparing casseroles for homeless organizations, visiting at a nursing home, and working in a garden, to name a few. We also participate in worship together and spend Thursday night in a fun fellowship activity that has included in the past either swimming or jumping at a local bouncy house. Registration for this event will take place soon. For more information about this event, please email Lori Epps, Director of Children's Ministries, or call 359-6041, ext. 117.

Kaleidoscope Music Camp

This exciting week of music takes place Monday, August 5th through Friday, August 9th at the Blackstone Conference and Retreat Center (formerly VUMAC) in

Blackstone, Virginia. This facility use to be a women's college back in the day, so participants get to stay in dorm-type rooms that have their own bathrooms. This event is open to rising 3rd through rising 6th graders. A guest choir conducts choir practices throughout the week that culminates in a concert for families on Thursday evening. The children get to participate in various workshops each day to include crafts, worship and scripture, indoor recreation, outdoor recreation (to include pool time), the zone (which is themed oriented), and Orff instruments. There are morning devotions each day and nightly worship with a guest pastor. It is a great camp experience. For more information about this opportunity, please email Cathy Armistead or Tamara Nicely.
