Open House and Christmas ConcertTop

Give the gift of Christmas inspiration by bringing someone to Reveille's annual Open House and Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 16: Open House is in the Welcome Center (new location!) at 4:30 pm, and the Concert is in the sanctuary at 5:30 pm. At Open House, you may indulge in tasty treats of the season in the Welcome Center, graciously donated by our UMW, while listening to inspirational Christmas music by Matt Nagi on piano, and the a cappella group, Impromptu.

Christmas Concert At 5:30 pm, please move to the sanctuary where you will enjoy new Christmas carols by the Reveille Ringers (Trans Syberian Orchestra fan alert!), and splendid singing by the 45-voice combined choirs of Shady Grove UMC and Reveille UMC. Choral music will include anthems by John Rutter and Bryan Greer, and featured work, Christus Natus Est, by Cecilia McDowall, British contemporary of John Rutter. All choral works will be accompanied by 20 piece chamber orchestra, and conducted by Bryan Greer and Cathy Armistead.

Help Feed the Homeless

On Thursday, December 27, Reveille members will be serving a hot meal of roasted  chicken, cheesy potato casserole, green beans and dessert to some of Richmond's homeless population. There are several ways in which you can help.

You can help by providing one of the casseroles. The recipe, with drop-off instructions, can be picked up from the sign-up board IN THE NEW WELCOME CENTER.

 Friends of the Homeless

You can also help by being one of the servers at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church for an hour or two. You can meet us at Reveille at 11:00 and carpool or meet us at the site. If needed, childcare is available while serving the meal; please e-mail Lori Epps or call her at 359-6041 to request it.

Also, much needed are the following items:   gallon size baggies, plastic Tupperware-like containers (used containers are fine) and 55 gallon trashbags If you would like to donate any of these items, there will be a collection area by the elevators (on the red carpet) for you to place them.

PLEASE LOOK FOR THE SIGN UP SHEET IN THE NEW WELCOME CENTER AREA!

Thank you, in advance, for your support.

SYMPATHY

The Reveille family extends Christian love and sympathy to Dean Jarrett and family on the passing of his mother, Helen Jarrett, on December 5.

Year-End Giving

Are you planning to make donations to Reveille in late December that you plan to claim on your 2012 income tax return? If the answer is yes, following are the rules that you need to know. Donations must be delivered or mailed and postmarked on or by December 31, 2012 in order to claim a charitable contribution deduction for 2012. Checks that are placed in the church offering during the first worship service in 2013 will not qualify for a charitable contribution deduction in 2012 even if the check is predated to 2011 or was actually written in 2012. However, checks that are written, mailed, and postmarked in 2012 will be deductible in 2012 though they are not received by Reveille until 2013. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Glynis Holcomb, financial manager, 359-6041, ext. 118.
