Children and Worship Class Graduates
Congratulations to Reveille's 2012 first graders who completed the Children and Worship Class: Carson Aker, Ella Anderegg, Lauren Bennett, Vivian Boyd, Matthew Butler, Jackson Cario, Adam Fisher, Mason Herr, Ryan Holdych, Ava Nagi, Peyton Noland, Will Rosen, Chase Sandler, Beatrice Shippee, Sophia Thompson, Mary Elizabeth Willis, and Jackson Wright.
Led by Angela Elliott, Lisa and Steve Fisher, and Kim Hicks, this class helps prepare our first graders to transition from Extended Session to attending worship with their families. The curriculum covers different aspects of worship, from learning about the hymnal and the Bible to communion and symbols in our sanctuary. This class helps our children both appreciate and understand what we do in worship each Sunday, as well as why we do what we do. Thank you to the teachers who spent the past two months preparing lessons, teaching, and modeling faithful discipleship to our children.
We look forward to celebrating our Children and Worship graduates during the 11:00 worship service this Sunday, November 18.

Get Holiday Goodies at
Reveille's UMW Fall Bake Sale
This Sunday, November 18
9:00 am - 12:00 noon
Pies, cakes, breads, cookies, chocolates and more will be on sale in the fellowship hall and in the main hallway of the education building this Sunday. Our United Methodist Women invite you to come by and pick up some baked goods for your holiday celebrations. Many of the items can be frozen for later use.
If you are a United Methodist Women member and wish to donate a homemade goodie, you may deliver items to the fellowship hall kitchen on Friday, November 16 between 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm or bring your donations with you to church on Sunday. Be sure to label your baked goods Reveille UMW Bake Sale. Wrap your items appropriately and label each with its name (e.g., coconut cake, chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin pie, etc.) and note clearly if it contains nuts. Pretty wrapping is a plus!
Proceeds from the fall bake sale will benefit the United Methodist Women's mission projects.

No Wonderful Wednesday this Week
There will be no Wonderful Wednesday on November 21, Thanksgiving Eve.
Wonderful Wednesday will resume on November 28. Our menu for that day will be roasted baked chicken, green beans with red potatoes, rolls, tossed salad and freshly-baked cookies. Our program for November 28 is Advent wreath making.

Advent Wreath Workshop
November 28, 6:45 pm
The annual Advent Wreath Workshop will follow our Wonderful Wednesday fellowship dinner on November 28. Plan to join us as we begin the Advent season by making this wonderful symbol of the season.
The Advent wreath, four candles on a wreath made of evergreens, is shaped in a perfect circle to symbolize the eternity of God. We light a purple candle for week one to represent the prophets who renew our faith and remind us of what may be. We light the second purple candle for week two as a symbol of the shepherds, agents of the gospel and redeemers of the world. Week three we light a pink candle to represent Mary, mother of God, bearer of the Way. On week four of Advent, we light the fourth candle, purple in color, to symbolize Joseph, who knocks at the door, ready to take his place among royalty. Finally, on Christmas Eve, we light the center white Christ candle for the child-King, the infant-Redeemer, the lowly-Lord. And now we know: He is born and nothing will ever be the same!
Your family can make an Advent wreath to use at home this holiday season. The cost will be $10 for a complete kit and $5 for just candles. Please bring fresh greenery to share to adorn the wreaths. Some greens will be available at the workshop as well. So that we can make sure to have sufficient supplies, please let us know you if you need a wreath, candles, or both by emailing Lori Epps or by calling her at 359-6041, ext. 117.
We will also have craft opportunities available for our children to enjoy after they have helped put together the family Advent wreath.

Shop for Glorious Gifts
Online or in Person
Glorious Gifts is an alternative marketplace where one may "buy" gifts in honor of friends and loved ones. These gifts will support eight of Reveille's outreach ministries. You will be able to shop for Glorious Gifts in the welcome center from 9:00-11:30 am on Sundays, December 9 and December 16, and online shopping is available here until December 31.
The eight outreach ministries participating this year are Friends of Barnabas (Honduras Medical Mission Trip in July, 2013), CARITAS (Congregations Around Richmond Involved To Assure Shelter), Friends of the Homeless, Rebuilding Together of Richmond, United Methodist Women Prison Ministry, Westview on the James Camperships, Stop Hunger Now, and Swansboro Elementary School. Last week we highlighted CARITAS and Stop Hunger Now. This week we highlight two more organizations.
Friends of Barnabas Foundation
Through partnership with the Friends of Barnabas Foundation, the Reveille congregation will coordinate and equip a team of volunteers to provide medical, dental, eye and preventive care to the impoverished people of the rural mountain of Honduras, Central America. Mary Kay Jarrett and Al Rogers will lead the team from Reveille July 13-21, 2013. Teams travel to the most remote villages where there is no electricity or clean water. With their simple work, lives are saved every day. Evangelism occurs daily as they share Christ's love through touch, prayer and service. Hearts, souls and life journeys are transformed by the opportunity to serve.
Westview on the James Camperships
A campership to Westview on the James offers inner-city children an opportunity to leave the harsh concrete jungle of their day-to-day life and escape into God's beautiful outdoors. At camp the children swim, take long walks in the woods, identify bugs, plants and trees, learn new songs, meet new friends, play and laugh all in the safety of loving and supportive camp counselors. Reveille works with families in the Swansboro community to sponsor children for camperships.

This will take place in the welcome center. Please join us as we give thanks for our brothers and sisters-in-Christ, whom we support through our prayers and our gifts.
On December 23, we also will pack bag lunches, 10:30-11:00 am in the welcome center.
Items needed for lunches each month are 16 loaves of bread, 160 slices of cheese (not individually wrapped kind), 160 bags of individual chips, 160 fruit cups, 160 individually wrapped/bagged desserts and 160 boxed drinks. If you would like to donate any of these items for the November or December bag lunches please email Lori Epps or call her at 359-6041, ext. 117.

Children's Sunday School Teachers Needed
Teaching children's Sunday school is a wonderful opportunity to share your faith, build relationships, and teach children about the love of Jesus Christ. Several opportunities are currently available for adults to offer this guidance and love:
Pre-Kindergarten
Two adults are needed to join the teaching team of Jennifer Rosen and Rebecca Oing beginning in December. You should expect to teach at least twice a month.
4th Grade
Two adults are needed to join the teaching team of Chandler Klevana and Beth Paul. They teach every other Sunday, so typically, your commitment would be two times a month. We need someone to teach December 23 and then every other week beginning March 3 and continuingthrough May 26.
5th Grade
At least one or two adults are needed to take turns being Carolyn Neuhror's second adult in this classroom to satisfy our Child Protection Policy. We have several Sundays available in November and December, as well as all of the Sundays in February, March, April, and May.
The children's Sunday school classes use the United Methodist Cokesbury curriculum, "Grow, Proclaim, Serve," There is a detailed leader's guide as well as other supplemental resources to help you prepare and teach. Please pray about these opportunities to step out in faith to lead our young ones. For more information, please email Lori Epps, Director of Children's Ministries, or call her at 359-6041, ext. 117.

Angel Ministry
Pregnancies don't always go as planned. Sometimes they don't even happen at all. You are not alone. Angel ministers, women who have had pregnancy-related problems in their own past, are ready to provide a caring presence for those who are currently struggling with this difficult time in their lives. For more information, please email Rev. Katie B. Anthony or call her at 359-6041, ext. 111.

Swansboro Fall Festival - A Great Success!
More than 60 Reveille adults and children attended the Swansboro Fall Festival on Saturday, November 3 and assisted with the bake sale, cake walk and popcorn machine and sales. Some helped out with face painting and the cotton candy machine, as the PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) was short staffed on their own volunteers. More than $825 was raised for the Swansboro PTA by Reveille-sponsored events, doubling what the school raised on its own.
A special thank you goes to the many church and Weekday School volunteers that participated either in person, by baking homemade goodies or by providing cakes. Special thanks to Sarah Gentry for coordinating and manning the cake walk all day and to the Thompson family for donating the popcorn machine and popcorn.
This is truly an example of our church and preschool coming together to support a local outreach project, making a huge difference in what Swansboro will be able to do in the coming year with these additional funds, and in personally interacting with the wonderful staff, teachers and children that make up Swansboro Elementary School. Pictures will be posted on the Swansboro bulletin board soon. This board is located above the water fountains across from the stairway leading from the main hallway of the education building to the second floor.

Adopt an Attitude of Gratitude
You can express appreciation for a job well done at Reveille, a contribution beyond the call of duty, or other acts you wish to recognize by filling out a brightly-colored gratitude card and placing it in one of the gratitude boxes. These boxes are located just outside the sanctuary on one of the narthex tables, in the welcome center and in the fellowship hall near the sound closet.
