The news media continue to show us pictures of the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Relief will be needed in hard-hit areas for a long time. If you would like to make a financial contribution to the relief efforts through UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), please make your check payable to Reveille United Methodist Church and mark in the memo section Hurricanes 2012. To have your check credited properly, please be sure to include this notation. Donations may be put in the offering plate on Sunday or sent to the church office.

Stewardship Campaign Update

and How You Can Help

We have good news. Our stewardship campaign, "Building on our Blessings," is off to a great start.  In the days and weeks leading up to our Consecration Sunday (which was on October 28) it was easy to feel the excitement building. The response so far to our ambitious plans for 2013 has been great. Through November 4, we raised $814,731 toward our pledged giving budget goal of $1,344,000. Our average amount per pledge is up, and we're encouraged that we can reach our goal. To continue that momentum, we are asking those who have not yet pledged to send in their pledge card and do so as soon as it is convenient.

We have looked back on all that has been accomplished in the last few months and we have seen great blessings, but we know that the Lord has brought us to this place in order that we might bear even greater witness to God's love. Because we have been so blessed, we want to advance our ministries through initiatives such as our plans to build a Habitat for Humanity home in the Swansboro neighborhood, and we want to continue to provide excellent opportunities for spiritual growth for all ages. We want Reveille to be a place where lives are changed and the power of the gospel is made visible.

In this effort, every pledge is significant for our planning, as well as for our funding. The more pledges we realize, the more informed and efficient our 2013 planning will be and the better opportunity we have to fully fund our budget. To learn more about Reveille's finances and the ministries that our pledges help support please go to Reveille's website and click on the link to our stewardship presentation, "Building on Our Blessings." You may also view the presentation on YouTube here.

If you haven't pledged yet, please fill out a pledge card that you received in the mail, or you can find one in your church pew or in the church office. Send it in to the church or place in the offering plate during church services.  We also ask that you consider setting up an electronic funds transfer (EFT) for 2013, the easiest and most efficient way to pledge. The setup process is simple. Please contact Glynis Holcomb, Reveille's financial manager at 359-6041, ext. 118 or here. She'll be happy to help you get your EFT set up or answer any questions you have about making your pledge.

We are truly blessed in all dimensions of stewardship. Every day brings new opportunities to build on our blessings and on our faith so that we can be in service to others. Thank you for sharing with the rest of the Reveille congregation in your pledge and helping to make a transformative difference in God's world.

Information Meeting for

Medical Mission Trip to Honduras

Reveille's tradition of mission work in the mountain villages of Honduras continues with our next trip scheduled July 13 -21, 2013. Al Rogers and Mary Kay Jarrett will lead this team and are currently recruiting volunteers. Medical/nursing training and Spanish fluency are sought but are not required. Typically, half the team has neither.

An information meeting for those interested is planned for Sunday, November 18, 10-11:00 am in the chapel. Email Al Rogers for additional information. Al and Mary Kay ask that you prayerfully consider participating in this truly transformational mission.

Get Holiday Goodies at

Reveille's UMW Fall Bake Sale

Sunday, November 18

9:00 am - 12:00 noon

Pies, cakes, breads, cookies, chocolates and more will be on sale in the fellowship hall and in the main hallway of the education building on November 18, the Sunday before Bake sale 2 Thanksgiving. Our United Methodist Women invite you to come by and pick up some baked goods for your holiday celebrations. Many of the items can be frozen for later use.

If you are a United Methodist Women member and wish to donate a homemade goodie, you may deliver items to the fellowship hall kitchen on Friday, November 16 between 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm or bring your donations with you to church on Sunday, November 18. Be sure to label your baked goods Reveille UMW Bake Sale. Wrap your items appropriately and label each with its name (e.g., coconut cake, chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin pie, etc.) and note clearly if it contains nuts. Pretty wrapping is a plus!

Proceeds from the fall bake sale will benefit the United Methodist Women's mission projects.

If you have questions, please email Walker Fonville here or call the church office, 359-6041.

Glorious Gifts Returns to Reveille

Once again, Reveille will host Glorious Gifts, an alternative marketplace, where you may "buy" Christmas gifts in honor of your friends and loved ones. These giftsGlorious Gifts logowill support several of our outreach ministries. It is also a way to purchase gifts that benefit several  people all at once. For each glorious gift you buy, you will receive a card to present to your friend or loved one, while at the same time one of Reveille's ministries will be able to purchase needed supplies. This year the in-person shopping will take place December 9 and 16 in the welcome center from 9:00 to 11:30 am. Online shopping will be available during the week of November 11 on our website, http://reveilleumc.org.

The outreach ministries participating in Glorious Gifts this year are CARITAS, Stop Hunger Now, Friends of Barnabus (Honduras Medical Mission Trip), Friends of the Homeless, UMW (United Methodist Women) Prison Ministry, Westview-on-the James camperships, Rebuilding Together of Richmond, Swansboro Elementary School ministries, and Reveille's youth ministries. Beginning this week participating ministries will be highlighted in issues of The Reveille Window.

CARITAS

CARITAS is an acronym for Congregations Around Richmond Involved To Assure Shelter.

Reveille participates annually in this program, which houses the homeless in area churches. For two weeks each year, homeless families or single adults are our guests as the church provides meals, sleeping areas, showers, laundry facilities and other comforts of home.

STOP HUNGER NOW

Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger-relief organization whose mission is to end hunger in our lifetime. The organization provides food and life-saving aid to the world's most destitute and hungry, primarily through school feeding programs and shipments to areas in crisis situations. Stop Hunger Now meals are highly nutritious, dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, flavorings and 21 essential vitamins and minerals. Meals are packaged by volunteers through a fun and engaging assembly line process. It is a time when Reveille members of all ages work together. The meals are easy to transport, store, and distribute to those in greatest need. Reveille's goal is to package at least 20,000 meals each fall. Each meal package provides food for six people. On October 14, almost 200 Reveille volunteers packaged 20,000 meals, and plans are being made for another packaging session in 2013.

If you are interested in volunteering to help with Glorious Gifts on either December 9 or 16, please email Martha Hodges or call the church office at 359-6041 ext. 111.
