Dan Shimek, who with his brother,
Ron, created the Heat & Glo fireplace company in 1975, passed away a few hours ago. He had been ill for some time. That company was later sold to Hearth & Home Technologies, which allowed Dan to create a number of restaurants as well as a winery.
He went on to become CEO of
Hearth & Home Technologies and,
more currently, owner and CEO of
The Outdoor GreatRoom Company.
