D&D:  Misdirection
Session 44 Recap & Experience
Session 44:  Misdirection
Our adventurers made it to the ancient elven city that Sume once called home.  The forest was eerily quiet.  Our group was cautious, scouting first with Aoth, then with some summonings, and still again with Sume as a Hawk.

The city has been lost to time.  Only brigands call it home.  It's rich sacred places raped by Hobgoblins.  The first contact made was a human named Spider.  He was a charming highwayman who found the trees a sanctuary from the nearby kingdom of Cormyr.

He explained that nearly 60 years ago the Wild Elves were run out of the forest by the Hobgoblins.  They are still active in the forest but rarely visit the trees.

Sume acted with purpose and pushed the group onward.  They reached the mountain entrance of the Grand Shaman.  Aerialyn was able to charge the magic for the doorway, which was actually a portal.

Fearing traps, Decimus insisted on sending an Air Elemental.  When that didn't return he sent a Invisible Stalker.  Again, it didn't return.  Spider tied a stone and threw it in.  The rope was clearly cut but something or someone.

Aerialyn decided to scry, she tossed in a stone inscribed with an Arcane Mark.  Spider took the group to a great hall of sorts, suspended in the trees.  There they ate and rested while Aerialy performed her scrying ritual.  When the vision came it was of a Elf.  Perfectly still with glowing green eyes.  His skin was moldy and covered in what you would expect from a dank earthen chamber.

Clearly, it was undead.  Aerialyn called for Bareris to take care of the problem.  In the end Bareris found an elf held by a powerful Geas.  His wisdom allowed the warrior his freedom and the group that advantage of avoiding a mighty challenge.

Sume acted quickly, recovering the treasure she sought.  The group looted and returned to the ship.  Lystraia received some much needed rest and the Foresight begun sailing for Tethyr.
