After a few hours travel into the Sword Mountains, our adventurers encountered Reginald Breakweight and his band of... Outlaws. While they presented themselves as protectors, the group saw past their charade. First intimidating their way through the toll, then deciding to free the not so lucky masses that had fallen victim to the fake Paladin and his men.
In a well orchestrated attack the group slaughtered the bandits. Evidence that they are part of a larger group was found. Leaving loose ends that may come back to haunt the group. This action marks the first heroic deed for the group who also gained a name, with the beginnings of a reputation to follow. All thanks to a new Friend. A Moon Elf by the name of Victor Stiek. He was thrilled to be rescued and more than a little disappointed that the group hadn't heard of the Harpers.
Confused that our Heroes, as he called the, hadn't named themselves he set about giving them one. Thanks to Liam's boastful evangalistic tangent he quickly coined the group: "The Battle Horn of Tempus"! Victor agreed to escort the survivors back to Waterdeep.
Isbjorn tried to take all of the coin the bandits had stolen, but a fiery young woman wasn't having that and left the group with 2 coin purses. The total winnings for The Battle Horn of Tempus was 23g 18s 34c!
Knowing that they were being pursued our heroes decided to take evasive action. Isbjorn's knowledge served them well as he lead them deep into the Sword Mountains and near a well hidden, hardly traveled mountain lake. Here they met a group of Dwarves mining for Adamantine in what seemed like an abandoned crudley harvested mine. Fearing they would be attacked the group convinced the Dwarves they were also endanger.
Some antics later the Dwarves were even more suspicious of our heroes and stomped off; but not before Aoth escaped certain death and the dwarves sealed the mine. Isbjorn finds a vantage point and locates 4 campfires that could be their pursuers. Taking Aoth they go check on the three closest to them. 1 is a family. 2nd, is a Orc Raiding party. This leads Isbjorn to believe the 3rd must be their foes. In an interesting turn of events, Isbjorn approaches the praying orcs to gain their assistance fighting off the pursuers.
Isbjorn addresses their prayer leader, Smietha. She is very attractive, for an Orc, and is very intimidating. She seems immediately interested in Isbjorn's story of Human's coming for his group. She asks he wait till her Chief arrives. When he returns she introduces Beriek to Isbjorn. A Mountain Orc like the others (Including Isbjorn) he is tall and strong. Not as strong as our Barbarian, but he hasn't missed a day of killing to be certain. Unusual for an orc about to go on an evening raid, he is unarmored. He carries only a Spear. In his eyes is a calmness Isbjorn has never witnessed in a Chief. Only a Shaman has evern addressed him with such a knowing glance. Beriek is happy to have Isbjorn join them as they murder the humans that have dared enter their territory.
Our session ends as Beriek, Isbjorn, Smietha, and 10 Orc Warriors sprint into the night to confront the human pursuers. Aoth, trailing behind. |
