Colinette Arizona Dream Kits
Many of us know and love the "AbFab" throw kits from Colinette. The good news is, they're still being produced and are still available. The even better news is Colinette has come out with an exciting new kit called "Arizona Dream".

We've received our first shipment of every color available and we're already re-ordering! The colors are that beautiful. Each kit comes with 5 knitted throw patterns as well as 4 knitted shawl patterns. You can choose to make one throw OR you can make two shawls. Even better, the shawls do not have to be the same pattern!

The plan from our friends in Wales is to continue to release future patterns using the yarns in the kit, so the designs will never get 'stale'. As far as we're concerned, these kits are so beautiful, if they never release another pattern, we still think they're amazing!

All the patterns are knit on US 11s (8mm). No crochet pattern yet, but we're sure to see a crochet pattern in the future.

Baah Yarn So Many Events!
On Saturday August 10, come meet Mira Cole of Baah Yarns!

Mira is an avid knitter and a passionate hand dyer from Southern California. Her yarns are beautiful and so lovely to knit with it's hard to believe they're also machine washable! Mira will be bringing a lot of yarn in her beautiful colorways along with many models so you can see her yarns knitted in a variety of ways. She's always a delight to see at our trade shows, we know you'll enjoy her too. Stop in and say hello, or click here to see what's in stock today!

Hat FREE knitting with Big Needles class
On Saturday August 17 from 5:30 to 7PM, we're delighted to bring you a FREE class with a dear friend of the shop, Steve Callaghan. In addition to being a wonderful, warm person with such a delightful family, Steve is also passionate about knitting with large needles. In this class, he'll be sharing some tips and techniques he's discovered in working with a wide variety of yarns and some very large needles. The class is free, but we are asking you to register as the size will be limited. You'll need US 35 needles (single points or circulars) and at least 200 yards of any weight yarn. We would suggest not a super bulky. Anything from a lace weight to a worsted is perfect. You can bring what you have, or we do have these needles in stock! You can also download Steve's book (also free!) by clicking here (Ravelry registration required). Downloading the book is optional, as it's a very big file.

To register, call us or send us an email. We hope you'll join us for a fun evening of expanding our knitting vocabulary!

Pagewood Pagewood Farm Returns!
On Saturday August 31, and likely Sunday as well, we're delighted to welcome back to the shop Robin Page of Pagewood Farm!

Every year they make the trek up from Southern California to show off their latest creations, demonstrate some spinning, needle felting and create a fun, creative feel to the shop.

Saturday is the Pinedorado Parade so the town is brimming with excitement, so come on in and meet some of the most fun, creative people in the fiber world.

Frog Tree Peru An Evening in Peru
Many of us love Alpaca, much of which comes from Peru. Many of us have admired the amazing colors and patterns of traditional Peruvian textiles, both knitted and woven. Want to learn more about this amazing land and the people that live there?

Join us Saturday August 31 at 5:30 PM for an informative, exciting evening with Jim Petkiewicz of Frog Tree Yarns and Community Links International as he shows us the wonders of this beautiful land. We'll also have many more details about our group trip to Peru with Jim, currently planned for 10 days beginning on Tuesday March 25, 2014. This will be the most intensive opportunity to learn about the trip, the area, and what you can expect when traveling to one of the centers of fiber culture in the world.

If you'd like to be among the first to know all the details, you can register on-line here.

Potluck Yarn The Potluck Yarn Trilogy

On Saturday September 7, come join us at 1PM for a fun afternoon of story, yarn, and magic! Cheryl Potter, author of the new book "The Broken Circle" Part 1 of the Potluck Yarn Trilogy, will be in the shop with designs and kits from the book. If you liked Harry Potter, you'll love Cheryl Potter and the magical world she's created.

Cheryl is a lot of fun and the book has been a fun success spreading the goodness of yarn beyond the knitting world.

Auntie Auntie Wooly needs a scarf!
Scarecrow Fest is coming which means the return of Auntie Wooly! We were so grateful to all of you that helped us make her such a lovely jacket. This year she has asked us for a new scarf. A very long scarf. A scarf that would make both Harry Potter and Doctor Who (as played by Tom Baker) envious!

So we're once again calling on our family of fiber fans to help us by creating a segment of scarf around 8 inches wide of any length. Crochet, weave, knit, quilt ... any technique that works for you is perfect! Any color, any yarn, anything goes! Have fun and just be sure to get it to us by early September so we can get her scarf ready for her 2013 debut!

Shawl Free Pattern!
Today's pattern is a lovely shawl based on the Lace Rib Pattern from Barbara Walkers' book "A Treasury of Knitting Patterns." We chose a wonderful yarn from Rowan called "Felted Tweed DK", a soft, tweedy, machine washable yarn in a variety of classic colors. Just 5 balls of Felted Tweed and a US 7 circular of at least 24" length and you're off and knitting!

You could also substitute 8 skeins of Alpaca Sport from Frog Tree, or 7 skeins of Manos SIlk Blend.
